Geomorphological uniqueness of The Pedriza
La orografía de La Pedriza Reserva Natural enclavada en el parque regional de la Cuenca Alta del Manzanares representa un verdadero tesoro con gran valor geológico y espléndida importancia en cuanto a biodiversidad y ecoturismo se refiere.
Caminar a través de su piedemonte, valles y ascender hasta la cima por sus diversos senderos con mágica naturaleza y legendarios paisajes de origen volcánicos, nos regala impresionantes canales para llenarnos de sosiego y conectar con sensaciones de libertad, paz y bienestar con el corazón de nuestra Madre Naturaleza.
es una aventura de inigualable y subjetivo valor que debes experimentar para vivirla y sentirla a plenitud. Sin embargo, me he animado a compartir mi experiencia contigo a través de hermosas fotografías sobre mi viaje de verano a inicios del pasado mes. Espero sean de tu agrado.
The orography of La Pedriza Natural Reserve nestled in the regional park of the Cuenca Alta del Manzanares represents a real treasure with great geological value and splendid importance in terms of biodiversity and ecotourism.
Walking through its foothills, valleys and climb to the top by its various trails with magical nature and legendary landscapes of volcanic origin, gives us impressive channels to fill us with tranquility and connect with feelings of freedom, peace and well-being with the heart of our Mother Nature.
It is an adventure of unparalleled and subjective value that you must experience to live and feel it to the fullest. However, I have been encouraged to share my experience with you through beautiful photographs of my summer trip at the beginning of last month.

Una vez que llegamos al centro de visitantes La Pedriza, pudimos percibir la fresca brisa del clima montañoso y los decorativos carteles con diversos avisos que muestran los senderos, fauna silvestre y sitios de interés geológico y orogénicos.
Se trata de una de las unidades graníticas más importantes de la península Ibérica y Europa, de ahí que fuera declarado como de Reserva de la Biosfera (UNESCO).
Once we arrived at the visitor center La Pedriza, we could perceive the cool breeze of the mountainous climate and the decorative signs with various notices showing the trails, wildlife and sites of geological and orogenic interest.
It is one of the most important granitic units of the Iberian Peninsula and Europe, which is why it was declared a Biosphere Reserve (UNESCO).

In the foothills and lower slopes of La Pedriza, there is vegetation with some introduced tree species and shrubs that intermingle with chaparral and smaller species along the roadside.
In some parts you pass through beautiful vegetation tunnels.
Lindo ejemplar de pino silvestre (Pinus sylvestris L.) es custodiado por un robusto biotopo en su mayoría pedregoso que decora la superficie en las márgenes del curso de agua montañoso.
Nice specimen of Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) is guarded by a robust biotope mostly stony that decorates the surface on the margins of the mountainous watercourse.
El sistema hidrobiológico del río Manzanares transita sus frías aguas por la impermeable capa de este macizo granítico con capa superficial sedimentaria, su apariencia cristalina permite observar una diversidad de especies dulceacuícolas y anfibios que embellecen este paradisiaco ecosistema.
The hydrobiological system of the Manzanares River transits its cold waters through the impermeable layer of this granite massif with a superficial sedimentary layer, its crystalline appearance allows us to observe a diversity of freshwater species and amphibians that embellish this paradisiacal ecosystem.
A pesar del tono cromático de la imagen, el agua es cristalina y sus propiedades organolépticas (color, sabor, olor) me inspiraron confianza para consumirla. Desde que planifiqué esta visita tenía la intención de beber agua de montaña y logré saciar mi gusto de la mejor manera bajo este ardiente sol.
Despite the chromatic tone of the image, the water is crystal clear and its organoleptic properties (color, taste, smell) inspired me confidence to consume it. Since I planned this visit I had the intention of drinking mountain water and I managed to satiate my taste in the best way under this hot sun.

La armonía ecológica se promueve y práctica por doquier en este santuario natural, en determinadas zonas donde es posible la captación de fotones de luz solar con mayor magnitud, se encuentran instalados paneles fotovoltaicos para la transformación de energía solar en energía eléctrica.
Ecological harmony is promoted and practiced everywhere in this natural sanctuary, in certain areas where it is possible to capture photons of sunlight with greater magnitude, photovoltaic panels are installed for the transformation of solar energy into electricity.
Fauna silvestre | Wildlife
Durante el recorrido pudimos apreciar algunas aves de gran tamaño y muchas otras de menor tamaño, réptiles escurridizos y por más que deseaba encontrarme con un corzo (Capreolus capreolus) no logramos avistar ninguno. Quizás en una próxima oportunidad tenga más suerte.
During the tour we were able to see some large birds and many smaller ones, elusive reptiles and as much as I wanted to find a roe deer (Capreolus capreolus) we did not manage to spot any.
Maybe next time I will have better luck.

En la medida que íbamos ascendiendo la vegetación era más dispersa y de menor altura; sin embargo, observamos algunas especies frutales que tenían buena apariencia sin importar el sustrato rocoso.
As we ascended, the vegetation was more scattered and of lower altitude; however, we observed some fruit species that looked good regardless of the rocky substrate.
Magnifico paisaje geomorfológico a mis espaldas, bien valió la pena soportar varias horas de sol, algunos tropiezos, rasguños y picaduras de insectos, entre otras cositas propias del senderismo en montañas de este tipo. Me encantó y disfruté al máximo esta aventura, desde ya planificaré una nueva visita a esta colosal montaña con sus acanaladuras, surcos, afloramientos graníticos y fracturas hermosísimas.
Magnificent geomorphological landscape behind me, it was well worth it to endure several hours of sun, some stumbles, scratches and insect bites, among other little things typical of hiking in mountains of this type.
I loved and enjoyed this adventure to the fullest, and I will plan a new visit to this colossal mountain with its grooves, furrows, granite outcrops and beautiful fractures.
