Are you a fan of Harry Potter or Elphaba? Or Do you want to experience riding firebolt (Broomstick of of Harry Potter) like you are in a wizarding world? Today I want to share to you to the one of the magical spots of Siquijor Island – The Hapitanan.
Hapitanan is coined from the Visayan Word “Hapit” means stop over, and a suffix “an” basically means a place, which means Hapitanan is “a stopover place”.
It is situated at Circumferential Road in Lazi. It is one of the trademarks of Siquijor, a complete evidence that you’ve travelled in Siquijor. Why? Because of the striking image of tourist in the sky holding a broomstick just like a witch. It became a trademark of the island It’s because before Siquijor becomes so popular these days. Siquijor is already known about witches, potions, curses and other witchcrafts. It is not true in the place though since the people in the place where truly kind and accommodating, friendly and helpful.
Since I talk about witches and witchcrafts, broomsticks is one of those. And coming to this place can make you feel like flying. A picturesque place as the in-house photographers are veteran in terms of capturing a witch-like photo of the tourist up above the sky.
The tourists will climb up to the stage-like wood while the photographer is on the ground ready to capture for you. As you get on the deck, you can now grab the broomsticks and ride it as if you’re in the calvary and wait for the photographers que. As he instructs you to jump. Just jump high as you can and do mind your eyes too, where to look and “Boom” a picturesque and instagramable photo is there for you.
I remember my first time experience of it, I was so excited and nervous at the same time for I am quite shy for there are plenty of tourist waiting in line. But the good thing is you can try again multiple times till you’re satisfied with the result of your photos. I did just jump energetically and folded my feet so the photo will make it so good as if you’re truly flying.
Good weather affects also the quality of your pictures. Since I’ve been to the same spot many times accompanying my different circle of friends and family. I witness different views and captured moments as it affects the quality of your photo. But then again quite stormy skies offers you a different vibe like a wicked witch of the west where storms starts to form.
All in all, this spot is one of my recommendations for its cost depends on you since they only ask a donation without specific amount that even a dollar or cent is allowed. And it only cost you around 5 minutes of your time. And since it is a “Hapitanan” it offers food and beverages too. Buko juice or Coconut juice is the popular one.
So whenever you try and visit Siquijor don’t forget to HAPIT (Stop over) at Hapitanan.
