After accidentally finding the temple which we were not supposed to find, we ended up at a crossroads where from we decided to venture further in the hinterlands. The road ahead was not in a good shape, infact one can say that it was not a road at all. A little dirt here, a little bitumen there and lots of mud all along. But such is the nature of roads in high mountains. After every rainy season, the roads have to be redone and by the time new roads are laid, rains arrive again.
Anyhow, our journey took us through scarcely populated villages and thick forests. A vehicle would pass after every half an hour and then continuous silence for a long time.
Having rode for around two hours, we finally reached our destination which was small sleepy village. The temple is located right in the heart of the village and there are small shops surrounding it. The temple priest was inside and he generously showed us around.
The roof of the temple is made of wood and it consists of intricate wooden workmanship. Stories from the Indian epics like Ramayana and Mahabharata are engraved on the roof. The workmanship is at par with modern day 3D digital printers, if not better.
There are numerous such temples in this region which are made in tower temple style. The lower part of the tower used to serve as a garrisoning station cum storage center whereas the topmost part would be where the deity would reside. Over time, a lot of such temples have gone into a dilapidated state and only a state sponsored prgram would be able to revive them.

The trip there looks gruelling but look like it is worth it as the wood work of the temple is amazing.
