This place that I mark on the pinmapple map is a very special one for me. It is the place of silence and complete tranquility, a place where the sound of the sea welcomes me, accompanies me, sleeps me and wakes me up.
It is a fisherman's village where I continually spend whole days in contact with nature with no major objectives than getting into the sea as early in the morning and walking through the surrounding inlets. ...
The village is called Las Palmitas and corresponds to the town of Santa Cruz, Sucre state in Venezuela.
Este lugar que marco en el mapa de pinmapple es uno muy especial para mí. Es el lugar del silencio y la tranquilidad plena, un lugar donde el rumor del mar me recibe, me acompaña, me duerme y me despierta.
Es un caserío de pescadores a donde voy continuamente a pasar días enteros de contacto con la naturaleza sin mayores objetivos que meterse en el mar lo más pronto en la mañana y caminar por las ensenadas circundantes. ...
El caserío se llama Las palmitas y corresponde al pueblo de Santa Cruz, estado Sucre en Venezuela.
Santa Cruz It is located at the midpoint of two very visited places in the area: exactly halfway between Playa Colorada, one of the most beautiful beaches in the state of Sucre, and Santa Fé, a coastal town with a long history that also has a wide and beautiful beach.
All these towns and hamlets are located in the Mochima National Park, famous for its beautiful views, the emerald colors of its waters and the warmth and joy of its people.
Santa Cruz Está situada en el punto medio de dos muy visitados lugares de la zona: exactamente en la mitad de camino entre playa colorada una de las más bellas playas del estado sucre y Santa Fe un pueblo costero con larga historia que también cuenta con una amplia y hermosa playa.
Todos estos pueblos y caseríos están situados en la el Parque Nacional Mochima, famoso por sus bellas vistas, los colores esmeraldas de sus aguas y la calidez y alegría de sus personas.
When we got to Las Palmitas by road and once the car was parked, we went down to the beach as it cannot be reached by car. When deciding to stay overnight it is necessary to bring food and other items of daily use. From that moment on, if something becomes necessary, it must be sought across the sea by going by boat to one of the two towns indicated.
The photographs that I leave you today are a sample of the marine road between Las Palmitas and Santa Fe.
Cuando llegamos por carretera a Las Palmitas y una vez guardado estacionado el automóvil, bajamos a la playa ya que no se puede llegar en automóvil. Al decidir pernoctar es necesarios llevar los alimentos y otros artículos de uso diarios. A partir de ese momento si algo se hace necesario hay que procurarlo a través del mar yendo en bote a uno de los dos pueblos señalados.
Las fotografía que les dejo hoy son una muestra del camino marino entre Las Palmitas y Santa Fe.
Although we have done the journey many times, getting on a boat and crossing the sea is a fascinating experience in which anyone can feel happy and satisfied like a child.
It is a journey of about fifteen or twenty minutes between our two landmarks. Each of these minutes is interesting to the extent that the different landscapes appear and in which the conversation of the locals is imposing on you the imperceptible changes of the landscape and the social life of the area.
Aunque hayamos hecho el trayecto muchas veces, montarse en un bote y atravesar el mar es un experiencia fascinante en la que cualquiera puede sentirse alegre y satisfecho como un niño.
Es un trayecto de unos quince o veinte minuto entre nuestros dos puntos de referencia. Cada uno de esos minutos es interesante en la medida en la que van apareciendo los diferentes paisaje y en la que la conversación de los lugareños te va imponiendo de los imperceptibles cambios del paisaje y de la vida social de la zona.
Si algún turista desprevenido preguntara alguna vez cuál arquitecto diseñó la puerta de entrada a Santa Fe yo respondería, de todo corazón, que lo hizo el mejor arquitecto del mundo. Es difícil pensar en alguna entrada que tenga mayor armonía que la que brinda la conjunción de estos elementos naturales.
El cielo, las piedras, el agua del mar, el verde de la pared de la montaña.
¿Se puede pedir más?
Tal vez sea difícil pedir algo más, pero el arquitecto que lo pensó todo decidió que esta entrada estuviera siempre custodiada por al menos un par de los mejores vigilantes del mar.
We are entering from the right side of the town, I ask the sailor to move us away a bit to take a central view of the town. Then we will disembark near the market.
Vamos entrando por el lado derecho del pueblo, le pido al marino que nos aleje un poco para tomar un vista central del pueblo. Luego nos desembarcará cerca del mercado.
As you will have seen in the photographs, Santa Fe is surrounded by fertile mountains from which all the vegetables that the town and its surroundings consume come down. Everything that is consumed in the area always arrives less than two hours away. Not to mention the fish that one can wait for on the seashore ...
He leído que las culturas se conocen rápidamente en sus mercados y sus cementerios. Los mercados revelan a los pueblos. El mercado de Santa Fe es uno de los mejores que he experimentado, tal vez no en estructura, ni en planificación urbana pero si en sabores, en colores, en precios.
Como habrán visto en las fotografías Santa Fe está rodeada de fértiles montañas de donde bajan todas las legumbres que el pueblo y los alrededores consumen. Todo lo que se consume en la zona llega siempre a menos de dos horas de distancia. Ni hablar del pescado al que uno puede esperar en la orilla del mar...
From this photograph we begin our return to Las Palmitas, as we approach the pier we find the images of the children we have seen grow up, always happy, oblivious to a harsh national reality that is subjectively less severe by the shelter of the sea.
A partir de esta fotografía iniciamos el regreso a Las Palmitas, al acercarnos al muelle vamos encontrando las imágenes de los niños que hemos visto crecer, siempre felices, ajenos a una dura realidad nacional que se hace menos severa subjetivamente por el amparo del mar.

Hola, felicidades por tu post, realmente muy buenas fotografías, conozco y amo Santa Fe pero no conocía Santa Cruz gracias a tí ahora sé de él. Tengo un post sobre Santa Fe cuando gustes lo puedes ver. Me encantó leer tu narración del recorrido, me lleno de orgullo cuando veo cada vez más publicaciones sobre los maravillosos pueblos de mi querida Venezuela.
