So you may have seen my post from yesterday after I'd visited Westward Ho!, and spent an afternoon in the damp and drizzle, enjoying fish & chips and amusement arcades.
Well, the very next day, after sitting at home and deciding that it would be a waste of an opportunity to spend some time outside, we decided to jump in the car and head to the beach!
And what a great decision that was, we hadn't been there since last year, so thought 'let's go to Woolacombe!'. It's a 25-minute drive away, and probably one of the best sandy beaches in Devon, if not the UK. In the sunshine it's glorious, stretching for 3 miles from the village / resort of Woolacombe down to Putsborough. It's backed by hills and large sand dunes created a feeling of isolation from the rest of the world.
You're hardly ever alone though, especially in the summer, it's one of the places that everyone heads too, especially people into their water sports, it's very popular with surfers, and people who like to think they are surfers.
The experience was a world apart from our visit to Westward Ho!, especially due to the influence of the sun. Autumn is encroaching upon Summer, days are turning to night earlier and earlier, so when the sun is out and the skys are clear it makes you feel grateful, and appreciative of the day.
But Winter will be here, and it's going to get colder and wetter. I'm looking forwards to getting our there in my waterproofs and experiencing the changes in the seasons. Hopefully I'll have a lot more to share. In the meantime, here's some pictures from yesterdays afternoon at the beach...

And here's a little Dinah Washington, beautifully summing it all up...
Wow that beach is so clean and beautiful. Thank you for sharing this! :)
It's one of the best beaches in the UK, it's lovely early in the morning when there's no-one else there!
