Paso a relatarles mi primera vez visitando Playa Lido, una playa ubicada en el oriente de Venezuela, específicamente en Lecherías, Estado Anzoátegui. Aunque no había tenido buenas referencias de esta playa en Noviembre del 2022, aproveché en visitarla rápidamente debido a la cercanía de la ruta y el ahorro de combustible (problema que entiende un venezolano😅) necesario para culminar nuestro viaje exprés desde Ciudad Bolívar a Barcelona incluyendo el retorno el mismo día.

I am going to tell you about my first time visiting Lido Beach, a beach located in eastern Venezuela, specifically in Lecherías, Anzoátegui State. Although I had not had good references of this beach in November 2022, I took the opportunity to visit it quickly due to the proximity of the route and the fuel savings (a problem that a Venezuelan understands😅) necessary to complete our express trip from Bolivar City to Barcelona including the return the same day.
El viaje que realicé con 3 amigas, tenía como objetivo principal llevar unos documentos legales a la sede de Salud Pública del Estado Anzoátegui, ubicada en Barcelona, esto con la finalidad de agilizar la obtención del certificado de culminación de nuestro año como médicos rurales, así que se me ocurrió la idea de preguntar los precios de los pasajes en auto desde Ciudad Bolívar a nuestro destino para luego avivar la idea. En mi par de encuestas, uno de los choferes ofrecía esperarnos, en caso de que quisiéramos darnos un chapuzón en la playa y por supuesto que la idea sonaba mejor.
Al final concretamos con un chofer de confianza, divertido con muy buen humor y supe que colaboraría para que todo el trayecto fuese ameno. Además, le encantaba la idea de participar en la escapada a la playa.
The trip I made with 3 friends, had as main objective to take some legal documents to the headquarters of Public Health of the State of Anzoátegui, located in Barcelona, this in order to expedite obtaining the certificate of completion of our year as rural doctors, so I came up with the idea of asking the prices of car tickets from Bolivar City to our destination to then enliven the idea. In my couple of surveys, one of the drivers offered to wait for us, in case we wanted to take a dip at the beach and of course the idea sounded better.
In the end we settled on a trustworthy driver, funny with a good sense of humor, and I knew he would help make the whole trip enjoyable. Besides, he loved the idea of participating in the beach getaway.
El día lunes, salimos al amanecer hacia nuestro destino, durante un trayecto de 4 horas desde Ciudad Bolívar a Barcelona. Al llegar, tuvimos que orientarnos con el GPS para ubicar el Instituto de Salud Pública y posteriormente, todo el trámite fue rápido y fluido. Seguimos a la siguiente parada: Playa Lido. Acá nos cambiamos la ropa cubriéndonos dentro del carro y salimos a disfrutar nuestro anhelado baño playero.
On Monday, we left at dawn for our destination, a 4-hour drive from Bolivar City to Barcelona. Upon arrival, we had to orient ourselves with the GPS to locate the Institute of Public Health and then the whole process was fast and smooth. We continued to the next stop: Playa Lido. Here we changed our clothes and covered ourselves inside the car and went out to enjoy our longed-for beach swim.
En la playa habían escasas personas y lucían perfectas las tonalidades azules que se conjugaban entre el mar y el cielo. Convenimos alquilar un toldo pequeño cercano de la orilla de la playa por 5$, para vigilar nuestras pertenencias mientras nos sumergíamos todas a la vez (otro tema que entiende un venezolano😅).
Fui la primera en salir corriendo a sumergirme, pues la última vez que fui a la playa fue antes de la pandemia y extrañaba esa sensación, ese paisaje, ese sonido, ese olor, ese sabor saladito del mar. La playa estaba limpia, habían muchos peces saltando y nadando a nuestro alrededor y el sol acompañaba todo el escenario tropical. Luego de disfrutar un par de horas con nuestros snacks e hidratación, nos dispusimos a partir para almorzar en algún local del Paseo Colón en Puerto la Cruz y retornar a Ciudad Bolívar.
There were few people on the beach and the blue tones of the sea and the sky were perfect. We agreed to rent a small awning near the shore of the beach for 5$, to keep an eye on our belongings while we all dived at the same time (anotherr issue that a Venezuelan understands😅).
I was the first one to run out to dive, because the last time I went to the beach was before the pandemic and I missed that feeling, that landscape, that sound, that smell, that salty taste of the sea. The beach was clean, there were many fish jumping and swimming around us and the sun accompanied the tropical scenery. After enjoying a couple of hours with our snacks and hydration, we were ready to leave for lunch at some place in the Paseo Colon in Puerto la Cruz and return to Bolivar City.
En líneas generales, me gustó está playa. Estaba limpia, bonita, cuenta con un boulevard amplio para caminar y tiene servicios de comida y toldos para pasar el rato y protegerse del sol.

Overall, I liked this beach. It was clean, beautiful, has a wide boulevard for walking and has food services and awnings to hang out and protect yourself from the sun.
