Wandelbos Groenedaal: how autum can be so beautiful?

in Pinmapple3 years ago (edited)

As the coronavirus measures started to get strict again, many things are closed now in the Netherlands. However, it’s still possible to visit many parks around. And hooolllyyyy yeesss! They are so beautiful!

Being close to nature, especially during these crazy times, is a relief! Even with the crazy dutch weather, which includes sun, storms, wild winds, and rainbows, all on the same day, I feel like there are no excuses to go outside and take a walk.

Me and my boyfriend are doing these walks often to bring the refreshing winds of the Autumn to our mind! Sometimes we drive to a city nearby just to visit one park.

Yesterday, we went to Heemstede, the city where he was born, just to visit one of its parks. Waldelbos Groenedaal is not a huge park, but it’s still full of beauty and nature.
I’m a big fan of Autumn. Seriously, I don’t believe FALL in love has its meaning for just a coincidence. And it’s a blessing to watch the fall here in the Netherlands. Despite the wild crazy weather, yes, here is beautiful.

I love to see the leaves getting red and yellow, falling everywhere. I also like this introspective season which invites us to go inside, calm down and wait for the winter.

About Wandelbos Groenendaal

Waldebos Groenedaal is a really special place. It’s a forest, in its raw stage, with paths to walk around. The park allows dogs inside, so you’ll find all kinds of dogs, from all breed barking around. This park was created by the Municipality of Heemsted and one of the main ideas was to have a place for nature and dogs, considering the importance they have in human life.

The mushrooms are also a show apart. There are so many, in so many forms and colors! I absolutely fall in love with it!

The trees are also huge and you can catch their size only if you put your head really high into the sky!

Hiking trails

Red and yellow route

There is a 'red route' of approximately 4.2 km and a 'yellow route' of approximately 1.5 km. The walks start in the forecourt of the petting zoo. The red route is intended for walkers without a dog because part of it passes through an area prohibited for dogs. The yellow route is allowed for dogs, as it runs through the park where dogs are allowed to run free.

Blue route

On the blue route, dogs are allowed on a lead. There is a blue route through the meadow from Vrijheidslaan to Torenlaan. The other blue route runs from the Glipperdreef / entrance Mariënheuvel through the dog-free part of the forest to the Bosbeeklaan.

Cultural-historical walk

Wandelbos Groenendaal and the General Cemetery are both parts of the history of Heemstede. The walking routes have been plotted to pay more attention to the cultural-historical value of both locations. The directions in the booklet are introduced with a brief description of the history. Information about places of interest is always given between the directions for the route.

I took some shots during this walk which I want to share with you guys! It’s a beautiful place, that must be seen for sure.

Through these pictures, I hope you can take a walk with me in these introspective times and beautiful days. It's impossible to walk in these places and not ask yourself: how autumn can be so beautiful?
