There is a village away from the hustle and bustle of the world, where hardly 30 people live in a few houses. Small children wake up in the morning and go to school 8 km away. The elders of the family work in the fields, some drop the burden on their mules to the mountains and some earn their living by taking care of cows and goats. The elders of the house, while narrating their stories to the youth, say that you get tired very quickly. Here the locals cultivate peas, potatoes, maize, cabbage, chilli, turmeric and okra etc.

This village is “Timbure” which falls within the limits of Darjeeling district. If we see from the Indian side, this is the second last village on the Nepal border. If we walk on foot from this small village, after just 9 km we enter the border of Nepal. Situated at an altitude of 1950 meters, this village is a unique gem of nature's lap. This place is living its life peacefully at the confluence of Hindu and Buddhist religions. I am surprised that there is almost no information about it on the internet.
Yesterday my friend and I hiked to Gurdum village and yesterday's fatigue had no effect on us so today we decided to go to Timbure village. This village is 7 km away from our home stay. If we want, we can go here by car also but we prefer to go on foot. Anyway, we have covered a distance of 65 km on foot till now around Rimbik.
It does not take us much time to reach Timbure village on foot. Because now the body has become more active by walking daily, we covered this distance of 7 km in just 2.5 hours. There are no planes towards the cities on the way here...here there are climbs and descents which sometimes make the heart beat fast and sometimes very fast. To reach here, we take a little bit of the Black Forest route and a little bit of the Upper Sheppey village.
On the way we come across Shrikhola Bridge which is built on the Shrikhola River. After crossing this, the climb begins and from here we can see the sky and rows of forests. Cross one or two small streams and sit in the forest 2-4 times, control your breathing and start walking again. While walking, we cross the forest and enter an open area. It appears as if farming was once done here and is no longer done.
Crossing the fields of the village and seeing how the traces of sunset can be seen on the top of the mountain. He is carrying with him all the light and due to lack of this light the entire valley is seen moving towards darkness. Peas, potatoes as well as tea plants are visible in the fields. There are so many flowers planted in front of the houses as if the house is built in a flower garden. Everything is giving the message of being beautiful. Traces of Buddhism can be seen all around in the form of Buddhist prayer flags.
We roam around the village before it gets dark and return without wasting much time. On the way, we again meet Shrikhola Bridge, crossing which we get a lift by car to Rimbik. So in this way our day was also wonderful. Today we trekked 8 km and explored a new village. I hope you liked this village. Soon I will present to you some more places in this series.
