One Runner got AMS at 4650 meters at Manali-Leh Highway

in Pinmapple11 months ago

It is the fourth day and the runners have to cross the last mountain pass of the Manali-Leh Highway, which is named Tanglang La and has a height of 5319 meters. To pass this tough test, the runners wake up at 5 in the morning and after breakfast, start towards their destination at 6 o'clock.

Runners start their run from Maure Plains, locally known as Kyangthang. Today they have to cross the longest plane on this highway, the height here is 4640 meters. Even though there was no pass crossing today, but traveling such a long distance at such a height was no game.

And this is what happened except one runner, everyone else finished their race but one runner was surrounded by acute mountain sickness. Because of this we had to bring him to the hospital. Where everyone was admitted and told that he had a Hepo.

Runner is admitted in Army Hospital, now he is safe and in good hands. We are in Leh city now, if the runner had not had to be brought to the hospital, I would have been with the rest of the runners today and would have helped them start the race on the fifth day.

Tonight the runners are going to spend the night in Debring where the altitude is 4680 meters. Hope all the runners finish their race safely. Tomorrow I will meet everyone here in Leh. Tomorrow the runners will cross the highest pass of this highway which is 5319 meters high.

Hope you all will like all the landscapes of Manali-Leh Highway. All photos are clicked from Poco f1 mobile and edited in mobile app Lightroom. I have used google translate to translate hindi to english.
