A short end of the summer walk.

in Worldmappin3 months ago (edited)

Hello, friends, and greetings to the community! I hope you are all doing well and spending quality time with your loved ones, no matter where you are in the world. It feels like summer is coming to an end here; we can sense the arrival of autumn with the cool winds, clouds, and occasional showers.

Today began with a light shower, but by 11 AM, the sun emerged, brightening the atmosphere. Since it was my day off, we decided to venture out and explore a new place that was quite far from home. However, when we got to the car, we discovered that the side mirror was loose and nearly falling off. My husband fixed it, and then we chose to go for a walk nearby without a specific plan in mind because we didn't want to miss this opportunity of a good sunny day as the weather report is not appropriate for the next few days.
We simply followed our legs as they moved. Our walk started towards the military park, but I didn’t want to spend time there. Although that place has beautiful nature and we've often walked there, I wanted to take a different route this time and explore Skråvika instead.

Skråvika Nature Reserve is located about one and a half kilometers northeast of our home. The pine forest is situated just meters from the beach.

In terms of natural value, the two stands of pine on the west side cover 15 acres. The pines in Skråvika are divided into two groups, including some that are the alien species, black pine, Pinus nigra.

September clouds are accumulating now.

From a long distance saw some white patches. When we came closer, they were beautiful mushrooms, very big but not edible.

Morning glory looks beautiful.

Because of the strong wind the past couple of days, these wild apples are all over the path, blown down long before they were ripe

The forest was filled with vibrant greenery, and walking through the forest always makes me feel energetic.

Here we also had a choice of which path to choose we followed the left side.

This is a small forest between Minnehallen and Skråvika. Just 300 meters walking distance.

And here we are in an area called Skåvika, a small L-shaped beach filled with pebbles on one side and sand on the other. Most of the beaches in the vicinity are very quiet and peaceful, and this one is my favorite. It features an open forest nearby. In the past, it was used for open summer concerts and various musical activities. However, nowadays, this place is primarily used for playing frisbee as there is an 18-hole frisbee golf course in this area and the adjacent areas. Even though the wind was strong, people were taking the challenge of completing the course. You might notice that the tall pine trees don’t quite fit in my camera frame.

This forest belongs to a rehabilitation hospital called Kysthospitalet. There are some training apparati spread around among the trees. A great place for physical therapy training in nature, but it is not open to the public. So we headed for the beach

And entering the forest.

This forest also belongs to Kysthospitalet. Some parts of it are not crowded and have good sunlight, and some of it is very dark, very tight. After crossing that area, we came to the grassy grounds of Kysthospitalet.

Kysthospitalet is one of the premier rehab centers in Norway, providing both individual and group-based rehabilitation stays for children, young people, and adults from all around the country. The section also has an outpatient service and offers short assessment stays. It features a vast area with large buildings and small cottages, accommodating various medical specialists and therapies. While we can walk around the premises, we must avoid disturbing any patients.

As we kept our distance, we walked through the garden and saw some beautiful mushrooms. Then we made our way to the beach, where I found plenty of ripe rosehips. Although the apples on the tree by the beach were not ripe, they were falling due to the strong wind.

That’s all for today. Thank you, and see you soon! Take care.:)
