Today, I have the pleasure of inviting you to travel through and walk my province, Ciego de Ávila, known in the center of the island of Cuba as the city of portals. I will show you some architectural styles, buildings with spacious portals, and the natural atmosphere of its streets as the day progresses.

Hoy tengo el placer de invitarlos a transitar y caminar mi provincia Ciego de Ávila, conocida en el centro de la isla de Cuba como la ciudad de los portales. Les mostraré algunos estilos arquitectónicos, edificios de amplios portales y ambiente natural de sus calles a medida que avanza el día.

Before we begin, I wanted to tell you that I have recovered from the chikungunya virus. Even though it might not seem like it, walking through the city every afternoon has been a great help for my health and recovery.
Walking through my Ciego de Ávila is like traversing a living album of memories. It's a story that, despite the years, remains in a state of very poor economic development, with conservative colonial structures preserved for tourism.
Antes de comenzar, quería decirles que ya estoy mejor del virus chikungunya, que aunque no parezca, caminar todas las tardes por la ciudad me ha servido de mucha ayuda para la salud y recuperación.
Andar mi Ciego de Ávila es como recorrer un álbum de recuerdos vivos. Es una historia que a pesar de los años se mantiene en desarrollo económico muy pobre, y estructuras coloniales conservadoras para el turismo.
The squares and parks breathe calm, adorned with royal palms that rise like guardians of time, while people move through them with that unique blend of tranquility and energy so characteristic of central Cuba.
Some are on their way to work, while others are out for a stroll or simply sitting down to rest and exchange gestures and glances at the crossroads—a place that has served to unite couples for life.
Las plazas y parques respiran calma, se adornan con palmas que se elevan como guardianas del tiempo, mientras la gente transita con esa mezcla de tranquilidad y energía tan propia del centro de Cuba.
Muchos para centros de trabajos y otros pasear o simplemente sentarse a descansar e intercambiar gestos y miradas en el cruce, servido para la unión de parejas de por vida.
There is another group of people who prefer to go to the San Eugenio de la Palma Cathedral, an example of modern architecture inspired by Rationalism, to confess their sins and have a better day.
Today, this visual journey captures more than just landscapes: it captures the essence of a city with a heartbeat, a city that is evolving and that invites those reading this post to learn a little about Ciego de Ávila.
Esta otro público que prefiere ir a la Catedral San Eugenio de la Palma un exponente de la arquitectura moderna inspirada en el Racionalismo, para expresar su pecados y tener un mejor día.
Hoy, este recorrido visual captura más que paisajes: captura la esencia de una ciudad que late, que evoluciona y que invita a los que lean el post saber un poco de Ciego de Ávila.
Its colonial buildings, like the 1930 Liceo and La Cruz Verde, dressed in intense colors, seem to guard ancient conversations within their portals. They are now dedicated to the Museum of Fine Arts and the main commercial store in Ciego de Ávila, respectively.
These photographs depict a calm city with clear streets and a typically slow pace, showcasing the traditional architectural heritage where the covered portals were a key element.
Sus edificios coloniales como El liceo 1930 y La Cruz Verde, vestidos de colores intensos, parecen guardar conversaciones antiguas entre sus portales e historias, dedicadas al museo de Bellas Artes y la principal tienda comercial avileña.

As the day progresses, the sun paints the city with warm tones that transform every corner: from the historic facades to the more modern buildings.
The rhythm of Avila can be felt with every step, in every shadow that lengthens at dusk, in every face that passes by, leaving behind a glimpse of everyday history.
A medida que avanza el día, el sol pinta la ciudad con tonos cálidos que transforman cada rincón: desde las fachadas históricas hasta los edificios más modernos.
El ritmo avileño se siente en cada paso, en cada sombra que se alarga al atardecer, en cada rostro que pasa dejando atrás un destello de historia cotidiana.
It's worth it during that uncertain hour between day and night—that changing of the guard—to go for a walk, either through the city or along the boulevard, to enjoy the atmosphere and a different landscape, a transformation that is worth experiencing.
Continuing the walk, as the sun dips a little lower, I head towards quieter neighborhoods where cars rest in the shade of the houses, and neighbors chat sitting on their front porches.
Merece la pena a esa hora incierta que queda entre el día y la noche, esa entrega del relevo, salir a pasear bien por la ciudad, bien por el boulevar para disfrutar del ambiente o un paisaje distinto, una transformación que merece la pena transitar.
Siguiendo la caminata, al bajar un poco más el sol, me dirijo hacia barrios más tranquilos donde los carros descansan bajo las sombras de las casas, y los vecinos conversan sentados en los portales.
Among the city's many charms is the ability to enjoy art, its history in the streets, and at the same time, the art of nature. Just after leaving the historic center, an incredible panorama floods your vision, overwhelming you with so much natural beauty to take in.
It's always pleasant to travel through the northern area, going up or down, at any hour or season, but it holds a special charm at sunset.
Entre los muchos encantos que tiene la ciudad está el poder disfrutar del arte, de su historia en las calles y a la vez del arte de la naturaleza. Nada más salir del casco histórico una increíble panorámica inunda la retina, no dando abasto para poder contemplar tanta belleza natural.
Siempre a cualquier hora, o estación, es agradable recorrer subiendo o bajando la zona norte, pero tiene un encanto especial al atardecer.
There's a certain magic to the sunset; the sun goes down, but the sky ignites with color. Your city, your neighborhood, your family… these are things that define you, and they will be with you until your last day, even if you change provinces or countries.
Going for a walk in my neighborhood is about leaving your mark on your birthplace, in the footsteps of the people walking by, or in the sight of young people playing soccer in the square until nightfall.
El atardecer tiene algo de magia; el sol baja, pero el cielo se enciende de colores. Tu ciudad, tu barrio, tu familia… son cosas que te definen, y estarán contigo hasta el último día, aunque cambies de provincia y de país.
Salir a caminar mi barrio es dejar huellas en tu localidad de nacimiento, en el andar de las personas o el jugar de los jóvenes fútbol en la plaza hasta el anochecer.
It doesn't matter the size of the city. It is unique, incomparable, because it has you and you will always hold it close to your heart, seeing a beauty that no stranger could perceive.
A place where all it takes is pausing for a moment to discover that beauty lies not only in grand monuments, but also in quiet corners, in the twilight glow, in the details revealed only to those who look with curiosity.
Today, this visual journey captures more than just landscapes: it captures the essence of a city with a heartbeat, a city that is evolving and that invites you to return again and again.
No importa el tamaño de la ciudad. Ella es única, incomparable, porque te tiene y tú la tendrás siempre prendida a tu corazón y verás la belleza que ningún extraño podría percibir.
Un lugar donde basta detenerse un instante para descubrir que la belleza no está solo en los grandes monumentos, sino también en las esquinas tranquilas, en las luces del ocaso, en los detalles que solo revela quien mira con curiosidad.
