Hello travelers of the @worldmappin community!
Today, I have the pleasure of inviting you to get to know and walk through the most attractive park in my city, Ciego de Ávila. We'll explore its urban styles, landscapes, seawall and the natural ambiance of the place. I'll also be presenting this first tour with the approaching cold front, allowing us to capture beautiful images all the way until sunset.

Hoy tengo el placer de invitarlos a conocer y caminar el parque más atractivo de mi ciudad Ciego de Ávila, desde sus estilos urbanísticos, paisajes, malecón y ambiente natural del lugar. También les presentaré este primer recorrido con el frente frío que se avecina, dejando captar bonitas imágenes hasta el atardecer.
Espero les guste la historia y disfruten cada uno de estos paisajes e instalaciones del parque. ¡Acompáñame en este maravilloso recorrido 😉!
I always appreciate these walks at the end of the day; they help me relax from the daily stress and are good for my health, especially since it has now been 25 days since the chikungunya virus was in my system, and I am in the recovery phase.
To get to the city park, "La Turbina," from my home, it's a 2 km walk through streets with old colonial porticos. Located on the northern outskirts of the capital city of Ciego de Ávila, this space has managed to become a recreation spot for the whole family.
Siempre aprecio estas caminatas al terminar el día, me relajan un poco del estrés diario y son buenas para mi salud, pues ya son 25 días posteriores del virus chikungunya en mi organismo, fase recuperativa.
Para llegar al parque de la ciudad "La Turbina" desde mi hogar son 2 km de calles y portales antiguos, situado en la periferia norte de la capital avileña, este espacio a logrado convertirse en lugar de esparcimiento para toda la familia.
La Turbina to give you a bit of history, this was once an abandoned place where people only came to fish in its lake. This vacant lot, full of thickets, has been transformed into a pleasant reflection of Ciego de Ávila's pride.
Around the park's artificial lake, pathways have been laid out, traditional thatched-roof restaurants have been built, thematic sculptures have been created and two old steam trains have been restored in memory of the city's transportation history. Furthermore, it offers boat rides, children's playgrounds and areas for sports practice.
La Turbina, para hablarles un poco de historia era un lugar abandonado, donde solo se pescaba en el lago que abarca. Este descampado lleno de matorrales se ha transformado en un agradable reflejo del orgullo de Ciego de Ávila.
Alrededor del lago artificial del parque se han señalizado caminos, construido restaurantes tipo ranchón, creado esculturas temáticas y desempolvado dos viejos trenes de vapor en recuerdo de la historia del transporte de la ciudad. Además, cuenta con paseos en bote, zonas para juegos infantiles y prácticas de deporte.
From the entrance, the fresh air and the greenery of the trees and palm trees invite you to walk without haste. The newly built seawall, which borders the lake's waters, offers charming views with blue paths that wind through the tropical vegetation.
In this little spot, many children come to play with their parents, people practice Yoga, and some even fly kites, thanks to the good wind here.
Desde la entrada, el aire fresco y el verde de los árboles y palmas invitan a caminar sin prisa. El malecón creado, que bordea las aguas del lago, ofrece vistas encantadoras, con senderos azules que serpentean entre la vegetación tropical.
En este pedacito, vienen muchos niños a jugar con sus padres, realizar ejercicios de Yoga y hasta empinar papalotes por el buen viento que ofrece.
It's not just a green area, but a recreational complex for the little ones and a cultural hub that serves as a meeting point for both locals and visitors.
Another important detail is that the name 'La Turbina' comes from an old turbine (a motor machine) that once existed on the site, linked to the region's sugar history, which is the economic heart of the entire province.
No es solo un área verde, sino un complejo recreativo para los más pequeños y cultural que funciona como punto de encuentro para avileños y visitantes.
Otro dato importante es que el nombre 'La Turbina' proviene de una antigua turbina (una máquina motora) que existió en el lugar, vinculada a la historia azucarera de la región, que es el corazón económico de toda la provincia.
From the viewpoint of the following photographs, the installation looks like the sea, but it's actually an artificial lake, lol. This area with palm trees and extensive blue benches is ideal for sitting down to chat, enjoying the breeze, or simply watching the comings and goings of people.
There are several cafés, pizzerias, and restaurants where you can try Creole food or have a drink in the warm sunlight.
La instalación desde el punto de vista de las siguientes fotografías parece el mar, pero es un lago artificial jjj. Esta área de palmeras y con bancos extensos azules, es ideal para sentarse a conversar, disfrutar de la brisa o simplemente observar el ir y venir de la gente.
Hay varios cafés, pizzerías y restaurantes donde puedes probar comida criolla o tomar un trago con el sol cálido.
The flow of people is special for those who love long walks and appreciate the natural greenery until sunset.
As evening falls, the park comes to life with the sound of the wind in the trees, the laughter of families, and the echo of birds over the lake.
El tránsito de gente, es especial para los que aman caminatas largas y aprecian el verde natural hasta el atardecer.
Al caer la tarde, el parque va cobrando vida con el sonido del viento entre los árboles, las risas de las familias y el eco de las aves en el lago.
One of the most iconic spots in the park is the Floating Restaurant, inaugurated in 2012. It offers good service, though there's room for improvement. The food is excellent, but its pricing should be more superior (or: but it is arguably priced on the higher side). Its location is its main public attraction. The menu is undoubtedly broader than other places and features an exemplary Cuban cocktail list, including piña coladas, mojitos, and Cuba libres.
The pier over the water provides a perfect panorama, ideal for pausing to contemplate the sky's reflection.
Uno de los centros más emblemático del parque es el Restaurante Flotante, inaugurado en 2012. Contiene un buen servicio, aunque puede mejorar. La comida es excelente, pero con respecto a precios debería ser superior. La ubicación es su principal atracción al público. El menú es más amplio que otros sitios sin duda y establece una coctelería cubana ejemplar como piña colada, mojito y Cuba libre.
El muelle sobre el agua regala una panorámica perfecta para detenerse a contemplar el reflejo del cielo.
The central area is still undergoing processes of growth and the restoration of abandoned places. This next photo will be a viewpoint, where you will be able to appreciate the views of the entire park in general, in addition to taking nice angular shots.
Very nearby, another pier that leads directly to the city is in the process of being completed, featuring a charming small internal park.
La zona central aún está procesos de crecimiento y restauración de lugares abandonados. Esta siguiente foto va a ser un mirador, donde podrás apreciar las vistas de todo el parque en general, además de realizar bonitas capturas angulares.

Further along, I came across very professional metal sculptures donated to the space, filling the environment with artistic life. They are all representations of animals like an elephant, spider, turtle, rhinoceros, and crocodile, in addition to a colonial-style little house that was closed but offered gastronomic services.
Más adelante, me encontré con esculturas realizadas en metal muy profesionales, donadas al espacio llenando de vida artesanal el ambiente. Todas son representación de animales como elefante, araña, tortuga, rinoceronte y cocodrilo, además de una casita colonial que se encontraba cerrada pero ofrecía servicios gastronómicos.
Now, concluding my tour of the city park, is the "Ranchón Sabor Cubano". It's an excellent open-air venue with a varied menu in every sense and operating hours until night, featuring family dinners and a disco that goes until 2 in the morning. It's a very safe and friendly atmosphere.
It has 24-hour parking, and from its surroundings, you can see some planes and trains that were donated to the place to host more stories and welcome the national and international public who visit us.
Ya culminando mi recorrido por el parque de la ciudad está el Ranchón Sabor Cubano, un excelente lugar al aire libre, con un menú variado en todos los sentidos y horarios hasta la noche con cenas familiares y discoteca hasta las 2 de la madrugada. Es un ambiente muy seguro y amigable.
Tiene sus parqueos las 24 horas, y a sus alrededores vista de algunos aviones y trenes donados al lugar para acoger más historias y público nacional e internacional que nos visite.
As I'm heading back home now from this long but pleasant walk, I should also mention that there are outdoor exercise areas, the "Las Grullas" cafeteria with two pool tables, and mini-stadiums for lovers of baseball and soccer.
Saliendo ya de regreso a mi hogar, de esta extensa caminata, pero agradable. Les comentaré que también hay zonas de hacer ejercicios al aire libre, cafetería Las grullas con dos mesas de billar y mini-estadios para los amantes del deporte béisbol y fútbol.
As you can see, it's an extensive roadway with sidewalks, where on the left I noticed they had designed a children's park called "Latiendo Sueños" (Beating Dreams).
Among the attractions I could observe from a distance were a carousel, a ship, and an amusement park star. There were also services for renting bicycles, small electric cars, and skates for children.
Como pueden ver es un vial extenso de calles con aceras, donde a la izquierda vi que habían diseñado un parque infantil llamado Latiendo Sueños.
Entre los aparatos que pude observar de lejos se encontraba un carrusel, un barco y una estrella de parque de atracciones. Entre alquilado de bicicletas, autos pequeños eléctricos y patines para niños.
To conclude, the Hotel Ciego de Ávila is a place I've enjoyed staying at since my youth. It's a fantastic choice for visitors to my city, as it offers an affordable atmosphere, along with numerous services designed to enhance your stay.
The rooms are comfortable, it offers free parking, an à la carte restaurant, and a swimming pool that, in the summer, is a great option both for hotel guests and for residents of the province.
Para finalizar, el hotel Ciego de Ávila una estancia que desde mi juventud me gusta para hospedarme. Es una elección magnífica para los visitantes de mi ciudad, ya que ofrece un ambiente económico, además de numerosos servicios diseñados para mejorar tu estancia.
La habitaciones son confortables, ofrece parking gratis, restaurante a la carta y piscina que en tiempo de verano es una muy buena opción para los que se hospedan en el hotel y para los residentes de la provincia.
