The red charm of Siena 🚩

in Pinmapple3 years ago

I have to admit that I really like this appointment with @haveyoubeenhere, I find it an excellent excuse to review old photos and relive the moments of a journey and in this moment of pandemic and confinement I think it does a lot of good.
As you may have seen in my previous posts, I only do an introduction to the trip and a brief description of the places visited, I try to retrace what I did but I tend to leave the details of the place to those who will visit after me, perhaps using the @pinmapple
I don't like spoilers too much, travel must be lived!

Siena is a high-ranking city from which you can reach it along beautiful panoramic roads from which you can admire beautiful Tuscan green landscapes. In Siena, large squares open from small alleys and this is precisely the effect that leaves the visitor speechless, because you don't expect so much grandeur when you come out of a narrow and narrow space.

A striking example is the square in front of the Cathedral of Siena or, the cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta. The square is so large because the building has never been completed in reality it lacks a nave but then over time the construction idea has changed and what we see today has remained, this does not mean that it is not a spectacle, the gothic style and the combination of materials astound anyone, inside it is indescribable I believe that only those who have seen it can understand, at the time it must have been an important investment for the church, considering that it was made with various types of marble and most part is very valuable, even the flooring of the Cathedral and a story made with pieces of marble and shows depictions of the Bible, a true masterpiece, I must return to see it more calmly.

But I must admit that I prefer piazza del campo, on an architectural level it is certainly much simpler and made of less precious materials but I think it is a style that belongs to us more as an Italian people, a style that represents our origins, our wise way to build stolen and reworked from the Roman Empire a style that the world envies us and of which we do not have enough care and respect, it is precisely for this square that I wanted to call my post SIENA the red charm, because this square at sunset is color of a fantastic red that I am sure you can not perceive from the photos.

The square opens up from fantastic glimpses of small streets as I said earlier from which it is possible to capture wonderful shots, there are other small architectural details that by browsing around you will surely be able to find, see you next time!
