Metropolitan Cathedral of Santa Ana
Built between the years 1665 and 1674, the Metropolitan Cathedral of Santa Ana is the main Catholic temple of the city of Caracas, inside it is the seat of the archbishop of the city and due to its geographical location in the heart of the capital it constitutes a point benchmark in many respects. Over the years, as a result of some earthquakes and many renovations, its architecture has undergone a series of changes, for example, its current tower is much smaller and less slender than the original, but in general terms it is still an imposing temple, in where the Romanesque-colonial style, the white color and the colonial vestiges are still very present.

Catedral Metropolitana da Santa Ana
Construida entre los años 1665 y 1674 la Catedral Metropolitana da Santa Ana es el principal templo católico de la ciudad de Caracas, en su interior se encuentra la sede del arzobispo de la ciudad y por su ubicación geográfica en pleno centro de la capital constituye un punto de referencia en muchos aspectos. Con el pasar de los años producto de algunos terremotos y muchas renovaciones su arquitectura ha sufrido una serie de cambios, por ejemplo, su torre actual es mucho más pequeña y menos esbelta que la original, pero en términos generales sigue siendo un templo imponente, en donde el estilo románico - colonial, el color blanco y los vestigios coloniales siguen estando muy presentes.

Con una planta en cruz griega que consta de 5 naves, 45 columnas cuyos capiteles mixtos soportan 88 arcos de medio punto , 10 vitrales y 8 capillas laterales, la Catedral Metropolitana es un templo de gran envergadura, el cual representa de forma perfecta el poder de la iglesia y al mismo tiempo permite que los visitantes se asombren con tan singular arquitectura, la cual se presta de forma ideal para las celebraciones religiosas más sagradas, pero esto contrasta con el hecho de que este recinto cuenta con un sentido patriótico único, pues en varios de sus vitrales se puede apreciar el tricolor nacional, el escudo de armas y al finalizar muchas celebraciones eucarísticas las gloriosas notas del himno nacional resuenan de forma espectacular.

In 1957, the Metropolitan Cathedral of Caracas was named a National Monument and with this a veil of protection is given to the entire structure, which seeks to preserve it for future generations and at the same time prevents its architecture from being substantially modified, thereby which guarantees that its historical value will continue through the years.
En el año 1957 La Catedral Metropolitana de Caracas fue nombrada Monumento Nacional y con ello se le brinda a toda la estructura un velo de protección, que busca preservarla para las futuras generaciones y al mismo tiempo evita que se modifique de forma sustancial su arquitectura, lo cual garantiza que su valor histórico se prolongue a través de los años.
Nuestra Señora del Pilar Chapel: The archbishops of Caracas are buried in it, except for the first Monsignor Francisco Ibarra who is in the National Pantheon and the third Monsignor Narciso Coll who died in the Kingdom of Spain, but in the His heart is found in the tomb that belongs to him, although as a curious fact many believe that in reality the organ found there corresponds to the lost heart of the colonel and hero of independence Manuel Atanasio Girardot Díaz, who gave his life for freedom in battle of Barbula. The chapel also stands out for having an impeccable Baroque-style altarpiece, which can be considered unique in Venezuela, thanks to its finishes, its age and its excellent state of conservation.
Capilla Nuestra Señora del Pilar: En ella se encuentran sepultados los arzobispos de Caracas a excepción del primero Monseñor Francisco Ibarra quien se encuentra en el Panteón Nacional y al tercero Monseñor Narciso Coll quien falleció en el Reino de España, pero en la tumba que le pertenece se encuentra su corazón, aunque como dato curiosos muchos creen que en realidad el órgano que se encuentra allí corresponde al corazón perdido del coronel y prócer de la independencia Manuel Atanasio Girardot Díaz, quien dio su vida por la libertad en la batalla de Bárbula. La capilla también resalta por contar con un impecable retablo de estilo barroco, el cual se puede considerar como único en Venezuela, gracias a sus acabados, su edad y su excelente estado de conservación.

Our Lady of Peace Chapel: With altarpieces dating from the 18th and 19th centuries, the small chapel is welcoming and invites you to pray in a more intimate place. Under its floor rests the body of Monsignor José Rincón Bonilla, who in life he served as auxiliary bishop of Caracas.
Capilla Nuestra Señora de la Paz: Con retablos que datan de los siglos XVIII y XIX la pequeña capilla es acogedora he invita a la oración en un lugar más íntimo, bajo su piso reposa el cuerpo de Monseñor José Rincón Bonilla quien en vida sirvió como obispo auxiliar de Caracas.

Chapel of the Holy Trinity: This is one of the main chapels of the Cathedral, since it has a past full of history, its spaces serve as a pantheon of the Bolívar family, in it the closest relatives of our liberator Simón Bolívar sleep in eternal rest, the first thing that is appreciated when facing this place is the sobriety, the silence of a complete family, the sculpture that perches on the center of the chapel manages to convey the pain and anguish of a A man who sees his family leaving for the other plane, in the background there is a 19th century altarpiece that represents the soul of the Liberator accompanied by his parents. Capilla de la Santísima Trinidad: Esta es una de las capillas principales de la Catedral, pues ella cuenta con un pasado cargado de historia, sus espacios sirven como panteón de la familia Bolívar, en ella los parientes más cercanos de nuestro libertador Simón Bolívar duermen en el descanso eterno, lo primero que se aprecia al estar frente a este lugar es la sobriedad, el silencio de una familia completa, la escultura que se posa sobre el centro de la capilla logra transmitir el dolor y la angustia de un hombre que ve a su familia partir al otro plano, al fondo se aprecia un retablo del siglo XIX que representa el alma del Libertador acompañada de sus padres. Es importante resaltar que el mismo Libertador estuvo aquí en varias oportunidades, en las cuales paso tiempo orando frente a lo que es el lugar de descanso de sus padres y hermanas.
Chapel of Santiago Apóstol: This is a very clear, beautiful and simple chapel where you can pray before a wooden figure of the Apostle Santiago, it has a series of benches and kneelers that allow the faithful to access the place and sit comfortably.
Capilla de Santiago Apóstol: Esta es una capilla muy clara, linda y sencilla en donde se puede orar ante una figura de madera del Apóstol Santiago, posee una serie de bancos y reclinatorios que permiten a los fieles poder acceder al lugar y sentarse de forma cómoda.
Chapel of the Holy Sepulcher: It is a small chapel that has an image of the Nazarene inside and a very unique painting of Saint Sebastian.
Capilla del Santo Sepulcro: Es una pequeña capilla que cuenta en su interior con una imagen del nazareno y un muy singular cuadro de San Sebastián.
San Pedro Chapel: This is a fairly large space, so much so that some could consider it as a nave, but personally I think it is more of a chapel, in it there are two beautiful altarpieces dating from the 18th century, a large picture of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and a very striking image of the Virgin Mary, in addition this chapel has multiple seats that allow a large number of faithful to come together.
Capilla de San Pedro: Este es un espacio bastante amplio, tanto que algunos la podrían considerar como una nave, pero personalmente creo que es más una capilla, en ella se encuentran dos bellos retablos que datan del siglo XVIII, un gran cuadro del Sagrado Corazón de Jesús y una muy llamativa imagen de la Virgen María, además esta capilla cuenta con múltiples asientos que permiten aglutinar a una gran cantidad de fieles.
The High Altar of the temple is an incredible structure, its grandeur stands out on the central nave, in which is the seat of the Archbishop of Caracas and its marble finishes are exquisite, the paintings on the sides create an optical illusion that when viewed from visitors seemed to be looking at a niche, when in reality it is an oil painting, the wooden chairs add a warmer and more welcoming tone to the space, while on the ceiling the different frescoes are combined with colorful stained glass allusive to the different cardinals who have set foot in this temple.
El Altar Mayor del templo es una estructura increíble, su imponencia resalta sobre la nave central, en el se encuentra la sede del arzobispo de Caracas y sus acabados en mármol resultan exquisitos, las pinturas de los laterales hacen una ilusión óptica que ante la visión de los visitantes parecía que se estuviera viendo un nicho, cuando en realidad es un óleo, las sillas de madera le agregan a al espacio una tonalidad mas cálida y acogedora, mientras que en el techo los diferentes frescos se combinan con coloridos vitrales alusivos a los diferentes cárdeles que han pisado este templo.
The facade of the temple stands out for its impeccable white color, it has some empty niches and has few windows or stained glass windows, its tower has two clearly marked levels, where the old bronze bells look invincible before the passage of time, on top of these a A clock dating from the year 1888 marks the rhythm of life of the citizens and its fine touches allow them to receive and say goodbye each year. On the tower a small dome serves as a pedestal for a bronze statue made by Juan Pedro López that represents faith and by Lastly, on the lobed pediment of the main façade stands a golden Caravaca cross that is very sober but at the same time immensely striking.
La fachada del templo resalta por su impecable color blanco, cuenta con algunos nichos vacíos y tiene pocas ventanas o vitrales, su torre tiene dos niveles claramente marcados, en donde las viejas campanas de bronce lucen invencibles ante el paso del tiempo, encima de estas un reloj que data del año 1888 marca el ritmo de vida de los ciudadanos y sus finos toques permiten recibir y despedir cada año, sobre la torre una pequeña cúpula sirve de pedestal para una estatua de bronce realizada por Juan Pedro López que representa la fe y por ultimo sobre el frontón lobulado de la fachada principal se levanta una cruz de Caravaca dorada que resulta muy sobria pero al mismo tiempo inmensamente llamativa.

La Catedral de Caracas está llena de grandes historias, incluso no se escapa de las leyendas urbanas, la más famosa de ellas cuenta que el terremoto que sacudió la ciudad de Caracas el 29 de Julio de 1967 estremeció con fuerza toda la estructura del templo, al punto de que la enorme cruz de Caravaca que corona su fachada se desprendió, pero dicen los presentes que cuando la cruz choco incrustándose en el piso, el temblor milagrosamente se detuvo, dicho evento fue registrado en múltiples diarios a nivel nacional y la historia ha pasado de generación en generación, llenando de misticismo tanto la cruz como a la misma catedral.
