Last weekend, I embarked on a journey to this khat khuni style haven, leaving the hustle of the city behind.
Nestled amidst the captivating hills of Theog in Himachal Pradesh, Taj Theog Resort and Spa emerges as a sanctuary where luxury meets the sublime beauty of the outer Himalayas.
As we traversed the scenic route past Kufri and Fagu, Theog unfolded its charms—a town adorned with five enchanting ‘ghats,’ each contributing to the mystique of this hidden world.
Standing proudly on the edge of a ridge, Taj Theog Resort and Spa pays homage to local craftsmanship, offering a mesmerizing panorama of Churdhar, the highest peak of the outer Himalayas.
Welcomed with traditional Namaste, a Tika on the forehead, and a garland, our sojourn began with the warmth of hospitality. A sip of their special apple tea set the tone for a delightful stay.
We were then escorted to our premium room, overlooking the valley, provided a retreat with sweeping views.
The Tragopan restaurant, an all-day dining alfresco with a valley view, beckoned us for lunch. True to its name, the restaurant mirrored the vibrancy and regality of Tragopan, the state bird of Himachal Pradesh. The flavors were as diverse as the landscape, offering a culinary journey through the region.
After the heavy lunch we rested in our room for a while then we visited the Theog Junction bar, inspired by the Himalayan Queen toy train, treated us to mocktails against the backdrop of Himalayan peaks.
The evening unfolded with a leisurely dip in the heated pool, a tranquil experience complemented by the majestic surroundings.
Later at night we had Dinner at Tragopan, beside a warm bonfire, elevated the dining experience. The alfresco setting offered a breathtaking view of the city lights, creating an ambiance that lingered long after the meal.
A bubble bath in the room’s bathtub marked the perfect end to the day.
Early the next morning, as the sun painted the sky with hues of dawn, we indulged in yoga in the west garden, breathing in the crisp mountain air.
After a hearty breakfast, we reluctantly bid adieu to our haven of serenity. The check-out formalities were a reminder that our sojourn at Taj Theog Resort and Spa had come to an end. The memories of this enchanting retreat, however, linger as a testament to the harmonious blend of luxury and nature that defines this Himalayan oasis.
In retrospect, our stay was more than an escape; it was a rendezvous with tranquility, a chapter in the book of memories scripted by the majestic hills and the unparalleled hospitality of Taj Theog Resort and Spa.
