Hi friends!

The following images are from the "Go to the Countryside" series. My grandmother's house in Phuong My village is still the spot. After a rainy night, I captured these photos on a breezy morning.

In the countryside, there are a lot of houses that are made out of wood with tile roofs.

Because practically everyone in Phuong My village makes a living from farming, every home has a barn. These are two-story barns with a buffalo understory and a straw or boat on the upper story, which you can see. Because of the harsh weather and its geography, this land experiences floods at least once a year so they have to have canoe and food reserves for the buffalo.

These are two plants that can be found in abundance in the Vietnamese countryside. The first photograph depicts areca trees, while the second depicts a palm tree. The betel nut is known as "old people's gum" because many grandmothers and grandfathers in Vietnam enjoy chewing it. My loving grandmother, who has no teeth, chews it all the time.

My grandmother enjoys cooking on a wood stove. Her stove is never turned off on a cold winter day. She enjoys cooking and nibbling betel nuts while sitting around the stove. She also buys firewood and hangs it to dry in front of the house.

These are some random scenes around my grandma's house. Does anyone feel familiar?

This is Mew, the cat of my grandmother. She is a Tabby Cat that is one and a half years old. Mew was brought home by my grandmother when she was born, therefore she is quite close to her. She is also a good friend of mine. When I visit my grandmother, I prefer to converse with her in the kitchen. Mew then tries to sit between my legs because she knows how much I enjoy caressing her.

Thank you , I will note that

BTW, these are lovely photos of your grandmother and her village, you have captured her so naturally. But I guess deep down you knew this wasn't really a travel post, and making it such would have spoilt the vibe of the images. Spread your content over different communities choosing the most applicable each time to reach more people.

And as I mentioned, if you make a travel post, you are more than welcome to post it in the haveyoubeenhere community as we are always here to support travel content creators
