The soaring price of coffee fueled our dreams of financial security. Considering coffee's potential for long-term profitability, my husband and I decided to search for seedlings.
After asking around, we learned that coffee seedlings were available near Cinchona Forest Reserve, Lantapan Bukidnon.
While searching for a nursery, we unexpectedly discovered the ASEAN Heritage Park, located directly in front of a coffee seedling nursery. This unplanned discovery transformed our simple errand into a fascinating adventure.
Mount Kitanglad Range Natural Park is a hidden gem in the Philippines. It is located in Bukidnon province on the island of Mindanao. It was declared an ASEAN Heritage Park in 2009. Mount Kitanglad derives its name from a Visayan term meaning "visible from afar," a reference to its prominent peak.
While exploring the area, the park's caretaker/manager/instructor, Kuya Blacky, graciously shared its rich history with us. We were thrilled to climb up to the 1930s house, eager to see what a house from that era looked like. While some renovations were evident, the main house remained largely intact. The smell of old wood was quite strong inside—a bit musty, but the experience of visiting such a historically significant house was still amazing.
We were also awestruck by the canopy bridge. As we walked across, the sounds of birds singing and the river flowing created a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere, truly immersing us in the essence of the forest. Initially, I hesitated to continue walking; the swaying motion was a bit unnerving, and the height was intimidating. However, my desire to experience this unique hanging bridge pushed me forward. I gripped my phone tightly, video recording as my husband and I cautiously proceeded. The bridge's leaf-like support roofs were truly impressive, blending seamlessly with the forest; they were perfectly integrated into the natural surroundings. I didn't take any photos during the first part of the walk; my focus was entirely on maintaining my balance. But once we reached the other side, I felt a surge of accomplishment. I stopped, posed, and let my husband take some pictures before we continued to the end of the bridge.

Just as we were preparing to leave, we stumbled upon a breathtaking sight: a brilliant pink Congea tomentosa also known as shower orchid. Approaching admiringly, I was mesmerized by its unique beauty. I carefully examined the flower before taking several pictures, captivated by its exquisite detail and vibrant color. It was a truly unforgettable moment.
Our initial focus was coffee seedlings, but Mount Kitanglad offered so much more. The historical sites, the breathtaking canopy bridge, and the vibrant Congea tomentosa created a journey far richer than we'd imagined. While the long-term profitability of coffee remains to be seen, our time in Mount Kitanglad Range Natural Park provided a valuable lesson: sometimes, the greatest rewards are unexpected discoveries along the way. It's not always all profit, sometimes memories are more precious. And people will always need coffee especially in the mornings 😜☕... or at least a good Hive post. The real investment? As far as I know, nope, there are none 🙄 that's what makes it so special to my eyes. The difference is the most important thing when you travel, it's amazing to see something completely different. I never tried this experience at all 😊
