Day 2 in Khanpur: From Sufi Serenity to Street Food Bliss

in Pinmapple20 days ago (edited)

Hello Hive Family! Your feedback from the previous post brought me immense joy and boosted my confidence. As I mentioned yesterday, I explored Khanpur a bit and enjoyed a fantastic meal. Due to the intense heat and mosquitoes, I couldn't sleep well last night. Nonetheless, we woke up around 11 AM.

After getting ready, we visited the shrine of Hazrat Jetha Bhuta, a revered Sufi saint. This place holds significant historical and cultural importance, even lending its name to the local railway station.

Since it was noon, there wasn't much crowd at the shrine. And inside the shrine, there was complete silence.

Stalls near the entrance offered toys for children and jewelry for women.

In one corner, there was an ancient water reservoir where pilgrims were offered water by an elderly lady. In return, visitors would give her some money as reward.

The walls of the shrine were adorned with various inscriptions and verses, as we observed with keen interest.

After paying our respects and offering prayers, we sat there for a while, absorbing the peaceful atmosphere. We planned to leave for City before sunset, aiming to return to Rajanpur by evening.

Next, we headed to the food street on Model Town Road, where we tried the famous Khoya Paerha sweet from Khoya Palace, the oldest and most renowned sweet shop in the city.

The lines of colorful sweets and refreshing juices tempted our taste buds, leaving us hungry. We couldn't resist taking home some Khoya Paerah to savor later. It's interesting to note that the prices of these sweets were lower than in our city, Multan, and their taste was exceptional as well.

My wife also enjoys these, so I made sure to pack some for her as well.

Our relatives suggested trying the ice cream at a famous shop called Ad Bhai Cafe, so we made our way there eagerly.

Outside the cafe, there was an Ice Gola Bar stall with colorful syrups, which enhanced the unique taste of their Ice Golas.

Upon seeing the Dahi baray and Gol gappay, we couldn't resist trying them. While the dahi baray were not exceptional, the golgappay were absolutely delightful.

Afterwards, we were handed the menu card. The seating area was air-conditioned, and cleanliness was well-maintained. Some of us ordered ice cream, while others opted for Falooda ice cream.

Their ice cream with three flavors was excellent. Since I couldn't decide on just one, I ended up ordering another one.
After enjoying our ice cream, it was time to head back.

As we were leaving, I noticed a flower shop nearby and decided to buy a bouquet for my wife. It didn't seem right to return empty-handed after being away for two days.

After that, we set off on our journey back home. My wife was pleased with the Khoya Paerha that we brought for her.
This journey reached its conclusion. I hope you enjoyed reading about this adventure. Thank you for following along.
