A Visit To Hong Kong's Capital City, Central and Tamar Park (#FamilyVacation Day 2)

18th July 2024

Our recent family holiday in Hong Kong was exhausting yet enjoyable, leaving us with many fond memories. We frequently wake up late, returning to the motel late at night, exhausted. This is how our week went. On the first day, my family visited one of Hong Kong's famous cities and harbor, the Victoria Harbor at Tsim Sha Tsui.

My family woke up at about noon, exhausted from the previous day. We decided to eat lunch at the mall, which was only a short walk from our hotel. I let them eat some Chinese food again, although it wasn't really to their liking.

That was the day I decided to buy a stroller for the little one. It's exhausting to travel with a child without one. Her mother complained. Carrying a child weighing nearly 15 kg is not an easy thing. You will not enjoy roaming around. We traveled almost to the end of the Lo Wu line solely to get the stroller because that's where we'd meet the seller. We only had the afternoon, so I decided to take my family to Central, Hong Kong's capital city.

Look how happy her mother was, and the kid just enjoyed watching Cocomelon. She could sleep comfortably even when moving around.

The kid likes spacious places. She loves running around every time we put her on the ground.

I feel truly grateful each time I see my family smiling. I despised my sister when she got pregnant at the wrong time. But my hatred faded when I saw this kid. I guess, that's the effect of children's genuine laughter and smiles. She's my pacifier.

We stopped at Tamar Station because I intended to take them on a walk along the Central Harbourfront. It's a great place to take an afternoon stroll while admiring Hong Kong's breathtaking harbor views. The day gave them an experience that left a lasting effect on them with breathtaking views and a glimpse inside the city's iconic skyline and architecture.

Tamar Park is located adjacent to the iconic Victoria Harbour, the place we visited on the first day. This is one of my favorite urban parks. It offers a tranquil escape amidst the bustling city of Central. As my family entered the park, they were captivated by its well-maintained greenery, serene ambiance, and breathtaking panoramic views of the skyline. Too different from city views in our country. We leisurely walked along the park's open spaces, and the waterfront promenade provided the perfect setting for relaxation. The kid was astonished by the tall buildings and boats passing on the water. We rested here for a while and enjoyed the relaxing views of the harbor.

Giving this kid some great shots. She did enjoy running around the platform. She's so energetic.

Walking along the promenade, we marveled at the stunning views of Hong Kong Island's towering skyscrapers, including the renowned International Finance Centre (IFC) and the giant Observation Wheel. The urban landscape was truly remarkable for them. I couldn't help but snap countless photos to capture the picturesque scenery with my family.

From Tamar Park, we walked to Central Harbourfront. It was getting dark, so we decided to make it our last destination. However, we stayed longer than we intended to. Our initial plan was to visit Worldwide, the mall with Filipino stores, but we failed to do so due to a limited amount of time.

One of the highlights of Central is its diverse range of attractions and landmarks. The AIA Vitality Park, for instance, is a great place to enjoy the night at Central Harbourfront. The area was buzzing with locals and tourists. The lively atmosphere was truly impossible to resist. I wanted my family to try riding the Ferris wheel because it'd be a one-in-a-lifetime opportunity. However, there were a few things that hindered us from doing so. First, the line was very long even though it was a weekday. We might end up getting back to our hotel so late if we line up. Second, we have a kind who gets easily scared with things she saw in person for the first time. She may like riding on a boat, but not on something like a Ferris wheel. She's such a noisy kid when crying, so we decided not to try it.

Aside from the Ferris wheel, the carnival behind it is also an attraction along with the displays and statues around the park. As mentioned above, the kid easily gets scared of things new to her. Even to this ice cream and candy chair. The fact that ice cream is her favorite, her reaction was unexpected.

The next stop was the dinosaur park. The kid loves watching dinosaur videos. She even knows what T-rex is. But when she spotted the statues, she freaked out, lol. She thought they were real. So we couldn't take photos that included her.

We faced her against the statues, and that's when she stopped crying. While she was busy drinking her milk and watching Cocomelon videos, we had a chance to take some photos of the dinosaur statues.

There were also big gorilla statues, which we knew would make the youngster freak out again. I was correct, I heard her scream when her mom showed her the gorillas, lol. We then took her out of the premises and allowed her to watch her favorite Cocomelon. That's her pacifier. She stopped crying.

Gladly, she wasn't afraid of this cute smiling yellow heart.

We decided to make it a day because it was getting late. The park has still an energetic atmosphere, though. People were still swarming around. As if it was a weekend.

Before heading back to the station, we spotted Hong Kong's famed ice cream truck. I said in my previous post that we couldn't buy ice cream for my niece from this type of truck when we were in Victoria Harbor because the queue was long. When we noticed the short queue, I was finally able to buy her one. This type of ice cream truck is commonly seen at prominent tourist attractions throughout Hong Kong. The ice cream may taste ordinary, yet it is a very old ice cream recipe in Hong Kong. You should give it a try if you ever visit Hong Kong.

There she goes, making a mess while eating her favorite ice cream. She had it with her until we reached the MTR station.

The IFC landmark is such an attraction. It's the 2nd highest building in HK.

It was an exhausting, yet enjoyable tour. The city's brilliant lights, the lively ambiance along the harbor, and the interesting stuff at AIA Vitality Park all contributed to a wonderful experience.

Thanks for your time.

A stroller is a must if you're traveling with small kids; it will save you the trouble and make you enjoy the vacation more. We learned it the hard way hahaha nagka-back problem pa si hubby for carrying our child kasi ayaw namin mahassle ng stroller sa plane.

I can only imagine how you all enjoyed this adventure on that day. Brilliant decision to buy the stroller. Carrying your niece would truly be exhausting at 15 kgs😅
