There are places you happen to come across along the way. Some of them you never notice and you don't stop by them, and some of them attract your attention. Just 30 km from my town, where the road led me by chance to look for an ethnic village where we wanted to spend a family day, which I will write about in the next post, we came across a historical courtyard. This historic courtyard is located in the village of Vranic in the vicinity of Belgrade.
Time stood still in that yard. In front of the entrance, we saw a sign that said the church of St. Elijah and below that a memorial museum.
We felt peace when we entered and incredible silence.
There was the St. Elija church tad was built at the end of the 19th century.
But there was also an interesting log cabin church. This is not the first log church that we have visited in Serbia and it seems that there are more, although I was not even aware of it. It has a very unusual shape.
The whole is made of wood and has a very large roof.
It was built at the beginning of the 19th century on the foundations of an even older church from the 18th century. It was interesting to me that when I look at it from different perspectives, it looks completely different. Sometimes it seems small.
And it's actually big.
We went inside, it was completely dark.
But even though it seems deserted and there is no one around this place is alive. Inside you feel as if there are many people and there is no one. It is strange and at the same time pleasant.
We went out and walked around this historic yard, where an old house that I will write about in my next post still resists time.
Thank you for reading.

What an incredible experience, Jelena! As a true Peruvian traveler, I imagined walking into that wooden church and saying, "It looks small, but it's bigger than my hunger after a trek in the Andes!" 😂 I love how you describe the feeling of being accompanied in an empty place, just like in Cusco when you sit in a plaza and feel history alive around you. I can’t wait for your next post about the old house. Greetings from Peru! 🌎✨
