Hello Hive!
It's been a long time. How are you all doing? I hope everyone's great!
Here's my travel post to Albay, the home of the renowned Philippine "Mayon Volcano". This travel happened before Mayon shows some signs of eruption.
We flew from Cebu to Manila, where we waited for 4 hours before getting on another plane for Legazpi, Albay. We got connecting flights, since at the time of booking, there were no available direct flights from Cebu to Legazpi from our preferred airline. And you know, we chased for promo flights, so we got no other options than having our flight booked right then, or else we're gonna lose the promo.
Cagsawa Ruins Park
Busay, Cagsawa, Daraga, Albay, Bicol Region, Philippines
Cagsawa Ruins Park was the first tourist spot we visited on our first day in the Bicol Region. From Legazpi airport, we were fetched by our friends from Naga, Albay, who toured us to places we could cater with the time, before going to our hotel accommodation.
The ruins are the remnants of the Cagsawa church which was destroyed during an eruption of the Mayon a long time ago, with the church tower, the only remaining part of the church that can be seen as the rest was buried in the ground. Now, it has become one of the place's attractions.
At the park, we got a better and closer view of the Volcano on our first day. I was really fascinated with how our only Creator put everything just so perfectly. Truly amazing! I just couldn't stop praising God for his works that we also get to enjoy and experience, and Mayon would never be an exception. What was written in the books about it how it looked, is all true. Truly a spectacular sight to behold!
This was just the first place we visited in the Region, but our phone storage got almost full already. To our awe, we had taken a thousand shots of the place. Imagine, you were standing before the renowned Philippine Mayon Volcano that was like crowned by the cottony clouds above, in a lush green environment beautifully accented by the Church ruins. Would not that leave you in awe?
ATV Ride At Cagsawa
Busay, Cagsawa, Daraga, Albay, Bicol Region, Philippines
Had already experienced ATV rides before, but I was still looking forward to an ATV ride on this travel to Albay. I saw a lot of Albay travel posts highlighting their ATV adventure to Mayon, and I was like, I should try it. It happened, and became the highlight too of our trip.
After our picture-taking at the Cagsawa Ruins Park, we got on the ATV ride. There were just locals in the park whom we arranged our ATV booking with. There were various trails to choose from, and we only went for the shortest one that could be finished in just 45 minutes to one hour since it was nearing twilight when we had the activity.
The Cagsawa trail was the shortest. It cost Php 400.00/head, their promo rate at that time, which was Php 699.00/head at a regular rate. The longer the trail, of course, the higher the rate.
Before the actual adventure, we were quickly briefed about the trail we chose. It is not a problem if you don't have prior ATV experience, since the units are just easy to operate, all are automatic - just start the engine, brake to stop, and gas to accelerate.
Just like what I had seen on posts, Mayon ATV trails were for Adrenaline junkies. There were uphill and downhill curves, steep climbs and steep descents, plus it was driving through rocky roads, and lapping through waters. But need not worry as there were guides to check on you every time.
The end part of the Cagsawa trail was an open field which gives you a much better and closer view of the Mayon Volcano that's so much perfect for photoshoots. We stopped there for a while and took photos. Then drove back to the starting station.
It was such a whole lot of fun experiencing new things and adventures in a new place. The ATV ride to Mayon, and getting a closer look at it was a core memory.
That's all for this post. Thank you for giving it your time. I hope you have fun. Keep safe. See you in the next one!
