Happy start to the weekend everyone! Today I want to share a special new place I discovered a month ago, right after returning from our tour in Rome. This time, music took me to the El Paraíso neighborhood in Caracas, the capital of Venezuela, where the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Coromoto is located. It's a tribute to the patron saint of our country and to Venezuelan architecture, as it stands out for its beauty and is one of the Catholic churches I most longed to see in the city. With great joy, I can now mark this impressive place on our Hive world map.

Almost 100% of Catholic churches in my country are free to visit, although there are some exceptions, but this isn't one of them. Just check their Instagram lacoromotodecerca to see their opening hours. Inside the church, you'll find a lot of art, mainly religious sculptures and the beautiful, colorful display cases in the upper part of the church. It's a very tall place, with an imposing, but ugly, dome 😅 because the day I went it looked like an empty swimming pool. I hope it's about to be restored, but even so, it's worth going to see the beauty of the sanctuary.

The Ugly Dome 😬

That day the altar was truly beautiful, and although I was just getting acquainted with it, there were references to the recently canonized Venezuelan saints, José Gregorio Hernández and Carmen Rendiles, who had been named at the Vatican a week earlier. Their images looked lovely among the many details of the altar, which featured a beautiful golden arch adorned with paintings of angels and biblical scenes. Just behind the altar, a cluster of colorful windows stood out against the gray walls, reflecting the sunlight. It was impossible to miss a single detail because everything was designed to be viewed from a distance; you just had to pay attention...

Unlike my fellow choir members, that day I took advantage of arriving early and finding the church empty to wander through every corner, though I didn't dare climb the towers, especially since no one knew I was so high up and far away. Upstairs, there are two walkways to accommodate people who can't fit in the seats of the central courtyard, and above the entrance, there's a special space for musicians. One thing that indicates this is a modern church, not one from the colonial era, is that it doesn't have an organ for playing sacred music like the Cathedral or the Church of San Francisco in downtown Caracas. The only downside is that the stairs are quite steep, but the view of the church from above is well worth it.

In conclusion, even if you're not Catholic, the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Coromoto in El Paraíso, Caracas, is a place where you can appreciate art in every corner. It's a church with a parking lot on the right side of Avenida A-1, just behind the sanctuary's rectory. I hope you enjoyed these photos, which I took with so much love and respect for this magnificent place. If you live in Caracas and it catches your eye, I recommend you visit it in person. Thank you to everyone who reads and supports me; I send you a heartfelt hug from afar 🙏

The architecture in your country is really impressive!
I remember when I was a kid, the first time I visited a church with that designs, I mean a lot of saints displayed I got scared 🤣😆.
Now, I find it solemn
¡Gracias!
¡Abrazos!

What a nice and beautiful country Venezuela I like it very much
This temple is run by Redemptorist missionaries who are also in San Cristobal, Valencia, and Barquisimeto, where my wife and I serve. It is an architectural work rich in detail and color, although it still has several repairs pending. Excellent publication, my friend @jesuslnrs.
The church looks very beautiful. I was impressed by the interior design. I think anyone who comes to visit here will be impressed by the beauty.
Fascinating place and every picture shows the beauty of church. It's also another memorable visit of your trip 😀.
