Sarlat-la-Canéda is a medieval town located in the Dordogne region of southwestern France. The town dates back to the 8th century, when it was established as a religious center, and over time it grew into one of the most important towns in the region. In the Middle Ages, Sarlat was a major center for trade and commerce, and many of the town's buildings, such as its churches, houses, and fortifications, date back to this period. During the Renaissance, the town underwent a period of prosperity and growth, with the construction of many of its most famous buildings, including its impressive cathedral and several grand townhouses. In the 20th century, Sarlat became a popular tourist destination, attracting visitors with its well-preserved medieval architecture and its rich history. Today, the town is considered one of the most beautiful and well-preserved medieval towns in France, and it is a popular destination for tourists from all over the world, who come to explore its picturesque streets, charming squares, and historic buildings.

Visiting Sarlat-la-Caneda was a blast experience, and I totally agree with this quote by an unknown: "Sarlat-la-Canéda is a town that time forgot. The medieval streets, ancient houses, and winding alleys all maintain their original charm and beauty. It's a place where the past comes to life, and the present takes a back seat." Enjoy!

I think the town featured on one of Rick Stein’s TV programmes a couple of years ago. If it is, I’d on my list of places I’d love to visit. U

Thank you @nicklewis . Yes I think I saw the Rick Stein's TV about Sarlat. It's a worth visit place, and I think the local culinary is something that not to be miss.

When I wrote that comment I thought I may have got it wrong after hitting send. It’s on our list for a French road trip at some point in time.
