Pauline ruins in Northern Hungary - Ruins of St. Philip and James Pauline Monastery, Regéc-Óhuta

in Worldmappin3 years ago (edited)

This happened 9 days ago in the Zemplén Mountains.

It slowly darkened by the time we reached our next tent site. Next to the road, we parked the cars on the bank of a stream, and we took the most necessary packages on foot, approx. 5-600 meters from the parking lot. By the time everyone got to the place, it was already completely dark and soon we set fire to the designated place. The tents were raised by headlamp light.

I didn't take photos in the evening, I rather joined the cheerful company. We had dinner, and then a young woman gave a lecture on El Camino, which she had recently walked through. She said she had been suffering in cancer but El Camino contributed to her recovery.

It is no accident, as the place where we camped is also on the line of St. James Road, and the monastery next to us was also named after St. James.

It was already midnight when we returned to rest. I was very tired and fell asleep soon. I didn’t wake up and get cold until the next morning, thanks to the double socks.

The next morning at 6 o'clock we had to get up and pack up. There was little time left for photos and breakfast. In the crystal clear water of the Pauline spring I washed my face and drank from it, it was very good, I was refreshed and my sleepiness disappeared. I would add that washing face in spring water is one of the best methods against aging, wrinkles.

The area is very well maintained, thanks to the locals. There is a tiny lake (Teardrop-lake) in the middle that is fed by the Pauline spring. It was very reassuring to have lots of fresh greens, we would have loved to have spent more time there.
Maybe later, next summer ...

The monastery here now has only its foundations, and parts of it have been covered with geotextiles so as not to be ruined.

The positive energy radiating from it, on the other hand, was definitely felt. Beyond physical existence there is the ethereal and one can be connected with it.

Getting out sleeping under tents for a couple of days with friends, most definitely the best medicine to restore our souls.

Have a wonderful new week, thanks for sharing this lovely spot @kalemandra
