Edinburgh, part 2 - Palace of Holyrood, Arthur's Seat, Victoria Street and Haggis / Edynburg, część 2 - Pałac Holyrood, Góra Artura, Victoria Street i Haggis

I invite you to another trip around Edinburgh. I recently mentioned Edinburgh's inspiration in the Harry Potter novels. Here is one of the most beautiful streets in Edinburgh - Victoria Street that resembles Diagon Alley.

Zapraszam do kolejnej wędrówki po Edynburgu. Ostatnio wspominałam o edynburskich inspiracjach w powieściach o Harrym Potterze. Oto jedna z najpiękniejszych ulic Edynburga - ulica Victorii, która przypomina Diagon Alley.

The combination of tradition is great - classic tenement houses with colorful buildings renovated downstairs.

In Edinburgh, it is also cool that, while in the city center, you can climb a hill, which is 251 meters, is covered with wild plants and from which there is a phenomenal view of the city. This is Arthur's Seat. Its name comes from the fact that King Arthur is said to have watched from it after one of his battles. In this regard, Edinburgh reminds me a bit of Cape Town. There, too, the city is situated near a flat hill - Table Mountain.

To tzn. góra Artura.

And here is another Scotsman, dressed in traditional clothes, which I met while walking around the Scottish capital. He was dressed in a kilt, had a sword, and was making menacing expressions. He pretended to be a Scottish warrior and as you can see from the child's reaction, he didn't look like a dangerous person ;)

And here are shop windows from Scottish stores. In Scotland it is often cold, foggy and raining, so the shops offer a lot of wool sweaters and scarves. Of course, a lot of clothes have a tartan pattern. Scotland is a perfect place for fans of checkered clothes, I also like woolen decorations - rabbit and other animals.

This is the Palace of Holyrood. Unfortunately, during my stay there was a monarch in the palace and I couldn't see it from the inside.

Palace of Holyrood is the residence of the British monarchs in Scotland. It is located on a hill at the eastern end of the Royal Mile, which, among other things, leads to the castle.
The Palace of Holyrood in its present form was built in the 17th century. The castle hosted, among others, the Queen of Scots, Maria Stuart. Queen Elizabeth spends one week in residence at Holyrood Palace at the beginning of each summer, where she carries out a range of official engagements and ceremonies. The 16th-century Historic Apartments of Mary, Queen of Scots and the State Apartments, used for official and state entertaining, are open to the public throughout the year, except when members of the Royal Family are in residence.

A to Pałac Holyrood.

Zamek gościł m.in królową Szkotów, Marię Stuart. Królowa Elżbieta na początku lata spędza tydzień w Pałacu Holyrood, gdzie przeprowadza szereg oficjalnych spotkań i ceremonii. XVI-wieczne Historyczne Apartamenty Maryi, Królowej Szkotów i Apartamenty Stanowe, używane do oficjalnych i państwowych rozrywek, są otwarte dla publiczności przez cały rok, z wyjątkiem sytuacji, gdy rezydują członkowie rodziny królewskiej.

And in this photo you can see the famous traditional Scottish dish - Haggis. It is quite specific. It is being prepared

from sheep's offal (liver, heart and lung) mixed with onions, oat flour, fat and spices, sewn and stewed in a sheep's stomach.

Have you ever eaten Haggis? Do you like this type of dish? I did not have the courage to try this delicacy.

Jest on dość specyficzna. Przyrządza się go

z owczych podrobów (wątroby, serca i płuc), wymieszanych z cebulą, mąką owsianą, tłuszczem i przyprawami, zaszytych i duszonych w owczym żołądku.

Jedliście kiedyś Haggis? Lubicie tego typu potrawy? Ja nie miałam odwagi spróbować tego przysmaku.

In this store, the Haggis cans were stacked on top of each other in a triangular pattern.. Just like in Ireland, in Scotland I managed to buy interesting postcards. You can see that their author has an extraordinary sense of humor ;)

Several postcards showed Scotsmen who installed a cat or a dog on a bicycle instead of a front wheel, and another alluded to a question that appears in the minds of many people. What do Scots wear under their kilt? Many people think that nothing, and the funny postcard shows boxer shorts in a sheep. I love such postcards, with black humor :) My friends were again satisfied with what I sent them :)

And these are the inscriptions on the walls with fragments of poems by famous Scottish poets.

A to napisy na murach z fragmentami wierszy znanych szkockich poetów.
