Right next to the Tropical Greenhouse of the University of Warsaw I described yesterday, there is a Palm House. At the entrance I was greeted by magnificent banana leaves, their leaves could serve as an umbrella during heavy rain, although if there were more of them in my country, I would gladly see banana leaves as an alternative ecological dinner plate ;)
Tuż obok opisanej przeze mnie wczoraj Szklarni Tropikalnej UW znajduje się Palmiarnia. Przy wejściu powitały mnie okazałe bananowce, ich liście mogłyby posłużyć za parasolkę, podczas ulewnego deszczu, choć, gdyby w Polsce rosło ich więcej, chętnie bym widziała liście bananowca jako alternatywny ekologiczny talerz obiadowy ;)
There was a thicket of plants in the Palm House, almost like in a jungle. For this, like in a greenhouse, almost 40 degrees Celsius. Walking around such a place in a face mask is a real challenge.
W Palmiarni był gąszcz roślin, niemal jak w dżunglii. Do tego, podobnie jak w szklarni, prawie 40 stopni Celcjusza. Chodzenie po takim miejscu w maseczce to nie lada wyzwanie.
In the middle of the Palm House, there is a small pond between the plants, and water lilies are floating on the surface of the water. Despite the face mask, it was very relaxing to be able to look at these plants, sit by the pond, there was also color therapy because the amount of green was unbelievably greater than what usually surrounds me.
Po środku Palmiarni, między roślinami znajduje się małe źródełko, a na powierzchni wody pływają lilie wodne. Pomimo maseczki to było bardzo relaksujące móc przyglądać się tym roślinom, usiąść nad źródełkiem, do tego dochodziła koloroterapia, bo ilość zielonego była nieprawdopodobnie większa od tego, co zazwyczaj mnie otacza.
Being there, I quickly made interesting natural discoveries, I liked the flowers that grew downwards. It is a yellow orchid with wonderful spots resembling the color of a wild animal. I was delighted with this flower and I would love to grow it at home.
Będąc tam szybko dokonałam ciekawych odkryć przyrodniczych, spodobały mi się kwiaty, które rosły do dołu. To żółta orchidea, z cudownymi plamkami, przypominającymi umaszczenie dzikiego zwierzęcia. Zachwyciłam się tym kwiatem i chętnie bym go hodowała w domu.
As in the Palm House, there were also a lot of palm trees, including this one. I saw her in Japan growing live in different parks.
Jak to w Palmiarni, było też dużo palm, w tym ta. Widziałam ją w Japonii, jak rosła na żywo w róznych parkach.
And here is another orchid growing downwards and a nice solution that I may use in my plant crops one day. Plants were attached to a long tree trunk.
A tu kolejny storczyk rosnący do dołu i fajne rozwiązanie, które może kiedyś spożytkuję w moich uprawach. Rośliny były przyczepione do długiego pnia drzewa.
In addition to ensuring the right temperature, it is important to illuminate the plants, so in the palm house I saw several large lamps at the top.
Oprócz zapewniania odpowiedniej temperatury ważne jest naświetlenie roślin, dlatego w palmiarni u góry widziałam kilka dużych lamp.
In the photo below you can see an amazing tree trunk.
Na zdjęciu poniżej możecie zobaczyć niesamowity pień drzewa.
And in the next photo, there is a pot with large holes so that the plant can freely develop its roots, or grow downwards, like the previous few.
A na kolejnym zdjęciu znajduje się doniczka z dużymi dziurami, aby roślina mogła swobodnie rozwinąć korzenie, alebo rosnąć w dół, jak kilka poprzednich.
I hope that the next time I visit the Palm House it will be completely pandemic gone and you will be able to walk among exotic trees without unnecessary elements covering your face. And I will come back there for sure. I could be in such places very often and discover something new each time.
Mam nadzieję, że gdy odwiedzę Palmiarnię następnym razem będzie już zupełnie po pandemii i będzie można spacerować między egzotycznymi drzewami bez zbędnych elementów zakrywających twarz. A wrócę tam na pewno. W takich miejscach mogłabym bywać bardzo często i za każdym razem odkrywać coś nowego.

Yes, the Palm House is very large, but these plants have also grown a lot. I think it will need enlargement soon 😉
