My relationship with the city of Merida, in Venezuela, has brought me fond memories. The beautiful landscapes and places of Merida are incredible and ideal for a good time.
One of those places is the main station of the Mucumbarí cable car, known as the highest in the world, with a height of 4,765 meters above sea level, and the second longest, with 12.5 kilometers of route. The project was built in 1960. Over time, it has been renovated, but there was a closure in 2020-2022 and not precisely because of the pandemic, but for maintenance and repairs, providing safety for tourists.
I have been up the cable car numerous times, and the sensation has always been the same: to see the city from the top, giving me a perspective of how small we are.
This time I saw the immensity of the Andean mountain, giving me the same feeling of smallness, but this time I found it ironic, at least for my memories, the fact that a few years ago, from the same place, I contemplated the height from a different side.
However, I also saw many people who usually go just to have a good time, enjoying the scenery from below, as if it were a square where they share a nice afternoon.
My stay at the cable car station was not planned, I was just passing by taking pictures in the surroundings, but being close and not going in, is a waste.
And indeed, it was nice to see people arriving from the heights, with their joyful faces, possibly with different sensations than mine, but in essence, the immensity, both from below and from above, is indisputable.
Going to Mérida implies visiting the cable car at least once in your life. There you can not only appreciate the beauty of the landscapes, but also enjoy restaurants and cafes, in the middle of a cold climate.
Many have been lucky enough to go up and encounter the snow-capped mountains, something I haven't experienced, but would love to, especially if I have the camera in my hand. I hope to be able to share it someday here, or wherever.

Mi relación con la ciudad de Mérida, en Venezuela, me han traído buenos recuerdos con mi familia y personas entrañables. Y no es para menos, los lindos paisajes y lugares de Mérida son increíbles e ideales para pasarla bien.
Uno de esos sitios es la estación principal del teleférico Mucumbarí, conocido como el más alto del mundo, con una altura de 4.765 metros sobre el nivel del mar, y el segundo más largo, con 12,5 kilómetros de trayecto. El proyecto fue construido en 1960. Con el paso del tiempo ha sido renovado, pero hubo un cierre en 2020-2022 y no precisamente por la pandemia, sino por mantenimiento y reparaciones, brindando seguridad a los turistas.
He subido al teleférico numerosas veces, y la sensación siempre ha sido la misma: ver la ciudad desde lo más alto, dándome una perspectiva de lo pequeños que somos.
Esta vez vi la inmensidad de la montaña andina, dándome la misma sensación de pequeñez, pero esta vez me pareció irónico, al menos para mis recuerdos, el hecho que hace unos años, desde el mismo sitio, contemplé la altura desde un lado distinto.
Sin embargo, también vi muchas personas que suelen ir solo a pasar un buen rato, disfrutando del paisaje desde abajo, como si se tratara de una plaza donde comparten una linda tarde.
No fue planificada mi estancia en la estación del teleférico, solo estaba de paso tomando fotos en los alrededores, pero estar cerca y no entrar, es un desperdicio.
Y en efecto, fue agradable ver a las personas llegar de las alturas, con sus rostros júbilo, posiblemente con sensaciones distintas a la mía, pero en esencia, la inmensidad, tanto desde abajo como desde arriba, es indiscutible.
Ir a Mérida implica visitar el teleférico al menos una vez en tu vida. Allí puedes no solo apreciar la belleza de los paisajes, sino también disfrutar de restaurantes y cafés, en el medio de un clima frío.
Muchos han corrido con la suerte de subir y encontrarse con las montañas nevadas, algo que no he experimentado, pero que me encantaría, y más si tengo la cámara en mi mano. Espero poder compartirlo algún día por aquí, o dónde sea.
