I present to you the Museum of Culture of Carabobo, located in Venezuela (South America).
It went from being abandoned to being one of the recreational spaces that every visitor to the city should know.
But first, let's start with its history: in 1986, this architectural project began to be constructed, designed by Jorge Castillo Blanco, who received a national award in 1987 for this design.
However, the construction took ten years, as the facilities are located on the banks of the Cabriales River (the main river of the city), and the basements used to flood.
The building became the epicenter of the region's culture and one of the main ones in the country, where numerous art exhibitions were held. However, in the last 15 years, the governments in power showed no interest, so the space gradually deteriorated, and homeless individuals in the area began to gather around it.
It wasn't until 2021 that the government decided to take action, and the necessary work began for the recovery of the space.
In February 2023, the Museum of Culture was reopened, and the surrounding spaces were turned into cafes and more to bring the whole area to life.
This is how art and gastronomy became the main attractions of what was once a nest of indigence and political negligence.
These photos that I'm sharing are part of the Arturo Michelena art exhibition, a nationally prestigious biennial with over seventy years of history.

Te presento el Museo de la Cultura de Carabobo, ubicado en Venezuela (Sudamérica).
Y pasó de estar en el abandono, a ser uno de los espacios recreativos que todo visitante de la ciudad, debe conocer.
Pero primero, comencemos desde su historia: en 1986 comenzó a ser construido este proyecto arquitectónico, de Jorge Castillo Blanco, quien recibió un premio nacional en 1987 por este diseño.
Sin embargo, la construcción tardó diez años, dado a que las instalaciones están a las orillas del Río Cabriales (el principal de la ciudad), y los sótanos solían inundarse.
La edificación se convirtió en el epicentro de la cultura de la región, y una de las principales del país, donde se realizaon numerosas exposiciones de arte, pero en los últimos 15 años, los gobiernos de turno no manifestaron interés alguno, por lo que poco a poco el espacio se fue descuidando, además que los indigentes de la zona fueron haciendo en los alrededores.
No fue hasta 2021 que el Gobierno decidió poner manos a la obra, y comenzón los trabajos pertinentes para la recuperación del espacio.
En febrero de 2023 fue reinaugurado el Museo de la cultura, además que las espacios aledaños se convirtieron en cafés y de más, para darle vida a toda la zona.
Es así como el arte y la gastronomía son las principales atracciones de lo que fue, un nido de la indigencia y negligencia política.
Estas fotos que comparto, forman parte de la exposición de arte Arturo Michelena, una bienal de prestigio nacional, con más de setenta años de historia.
