I think I'm not exaggerating when I say that in the south of Argentina each place surpasses itself. It even seems that they compete for which one is more beautiful. And while all these landscapes have an implicit fight to see who stands out the most, I'm delighted and happy to be living that moment. The first surprise that Villa La Angostura gave us was the beautiful Bahía Brava, but there was still much more to see in Los Arrayanes National Park in the Neuquén province ❤️.
Creo que no exagero cuando digo que en el sur de Argentina cada lugar se supera a sí mismo. Hasta pareciera que compiten por cuál es más hermoso. Y mientras todos estos paisajes tienen una lucha implícita por ver quién sobresale más, yo encantada y feliz de poder estar viviendo ese momento. La primera sorpresa que nos dió villa La Angostura fue la hermosa Bahía Brava, pero aún había muchísimo más para ver en el Parque Nacional Los Arrayanes en la provincia de Neuquén ❤️.
Neither my family nor I knew Villa La Angostura, so everything was new to us. It was already past noon, so we needed a place to go for lunch, and after asking for directions, they told us that there was no problem if we bought food and ate it in the park that was very close to the port. This seemed good to us, since to lock ourselves in a place we would have stayed at home 😅.
Ni mi familia ni yo conocíamos Villa La Angostura, así que todo fue nuevo para nosotros. Ya era pasado el mediodía, por lo que necesitabamos un lugar para ir a almorzar, y luego de pedir indicaciones, nos dijeron que no había problema si comprábamos comida y la consumíamos en el parque que quedaba muy cerca del puerto. Esto nos pareció bien, ya que para encerrarnos en un lugar nos hubiésemos quedado en casa 😅.
So there we were with our humble pizza box and a soda pop, scouring the park for a nice place to sit. This park is full of trees and there is little human intervention, all in pursuit of conserving nature. In this area and throughout the south in general, there is a lot of respect for the environment: there is a strict ban on making fires due to forest fires and there is a highly respected culture regarding waste. All this manages to always keep the spaces clean, something that does not happen in all places in my beloved Buenos Aires 😅.
Entonces, ahí estábamos nosotros con nuestra humilde caja de pizza y una gaseosa, recorriendo el parque para buscar un buen lugar para sentarnos. Este parque está lleno de árboles y hay poca intervención humana, todo en pos de conservar la naturaleza. En esta área y en todo el sur en general hay mucho respeto por el medioambiente: existe una estricta prohibición a hacer fuego debido a los incendios forestales y hay una cultura muy respetada en cuanto a los residuos. Todo esto logra mantener los espacios limpios siempre, algo que no ocurre en todos los lugares de mi querido Buenos Aires 😅.
Without a doubt, the best place to be is on the shores of Lake Nahuel Huapi. Well, this lake is the main protagonist of this area, it is everywhere as you may have seen. And it is that with its more than 550 km2 it steals all the scenarios. In this part in particular, the lake is quite flat, so many people use it as a beach. Who would not want to swim with such a landscape in the background? ❤️
Sin dudas el mejor lugar para estar es a orillas de Lago Nahuel Huapi. Bien, este lago es el principal protagonista de esta zona, está en todas partes como habrán visto. Y es que con sus más de 550 km2 se roba todos los escenarios. En particular en esta parte, el lago es bastante plano, por lo que mucha gente lo utiliza a modo de playa. ¿Quién no querría nadar con tal paisaje de fondo? ❤️
Something beautiful that we saw on this beach is that the water had those turquoise colors that we saw in the Río Ruca Malen. I almost drooled looking at this landscape, it was so beautiful that it was hard to believe it was real. The water is so crystal clear that these colors are generated thanks to the different depths of the lake. But as beautiful as it is to me, I couldn't go that far because I don't know how to swim 😅.
Algo hermoso que vimos en esta playa es que el agua se veía con esos colores turquesas que vimos en el Río Ruca Malen. Por poco y se me cae la baba mirando este paisaje, era tan hermoso que costaba creer que era real. El agua es tan cristalina que estos colores se generan gracias a las distintas profundidades que tiene el lago. Pero por más hermoso que me resulte, no podía ir tan lejos porque no sé nadar 😅.

Once we finished eating lunch, I went for a little walk further into the park. That's how I got to the reporting center and found out what other activities could be done there. In Argentina, you must pay a fee to make use of these national parks, whether for trekking, biking, visiting mountains or etc. In this case, they didn't charge us to spend the day there, but if you wanted to climb the mountains, you had to pay (9 USD for foreigners and 1.25 USD for local residents). We are not people who bank walks of more than 4 hours as we were told, so we leave it for the next time 😅.
Una vez que terminamos de almorzar, fui a dar un pequeño recorrido más allá en el parque. Así es como llegué al centro de informes y averigüe qué otras actividades podían realizarse allí. En Argentina, debes abonar una tarifa para hacer uso de estos parques nacionales, ya sea para hacer trekking, andar en bicicleta, visitar montañas o etc. En este caso, no nos cobraron por pasar el día allí, pero si querías ascender a las montañas sí había que pagar (9 USD para extranjeros y 1.25 USD para residentes locales). Nosotros no somos unas personas que se banquen caminatas de más de 4 horas como nos indicaron, así que lo dejamos para la siguiente ocasión 😅.
We spent a beautiful afternoon in this place (as if it could have been otherwise). The only thing I can complain about is that it was full of stalker bees that wouldn't let us drink soda in peace. BUT I wouldn't even have the right to complain about that because we are actually invading their space. Afterwards, all excellent 😅.
Pasamos una tarde hermosa en este lugar (como si pudiese haber sido de otra forma). De lo único que me puedo quejar es de que estaba lleno de abejas acosadoras que no nos dejaban tomar gaseosa en paz. PERO ni siquiera tendría derecho a quejarme de eso porque en realidad nosotros estamos invadiendo su espacio. Después, todo excelente 😅.

If you ever visit Bariloche or San Martín de Los Andes, do not hesitate to make a trip here, it is really worth knowing this beautiful place. Villa La Angostura is called the "garden of Patagonia" and well put it has its name. I strongly recommend this destination, you will not regret it ❤️.
Si alguna vez visitan Bariloche o San Martín de Los Andes, no duden en hacerse una escapada hasta aquí, realmente vale la pena conocer este lugar hermoso. Villa La Angostura es llamado el "jardín de la Patagonia" y bien puesto tiene su nombre. Les recomiendo fuertemente este destino, no se van a arrepentir ❤️.
