Before my horizons expanded as much as they have these past few months, I thought it was necessary to go out of the country to see a beautiful beach landscape with mountains. The beaches that those of us who live in Buenos Aires know have their coasts directly towards the sea, so it is not possible to see any mountain range at least in this part of the country. But after so many trips, luckily I discovered other incredible places in my country where you can visit places like these, with the best of both worlds. Besides that, the beaches I visited in Ushuaia had so many colors that gave the landscape a unique touch ❣️.
Antes de que mis horizontes se expandieran tanto como lo hicieron en estos últimos meses, pensaba que era necesario ir afuera del país para ver un hermoso paisaje de playa con montañas. Las playas que conocemos nosotros los que vivimos en Buenos Aires tienen sus costas directamente hacia el mar, por lo que no es posible ver ningún cordón montañoso al menos en esta parte. Pero después de tantos viajes, por suerte descubrí otros lugares increíbles de mi país en el que se pueden visitar lugares como estos, con lo mejor de ambos mundos. Además de eso, las playas que visité en Ushuaia tenían tantos colores que le daban al paisaje un toque único ❣️.
While the main activity I wanted to do in Ushuaia was to go to as many mountains as possible, I also wanted to explore what other landscapes they had in the area. We had already hiked quite a bit in previous days, so my new friends from the hostel and I thought it would be a good idea to do a short walk that was not so physically demanding. The day was beautiful for being outdoors, so once my work shift ended at noon, two of them and I took a cab to the beginning of Playa Larga, 4 km from the city center 😃.
Si bien la actividad principal que yo quería hacer en Ushuaia era ir hasta todas las montañas posibles, también quería explorar que otros paisajes tenían en la zona. Ya habíamos caminado bastante en días anteriores, por lo que mis nuevos amigos del hostel y yo pensamos que sería una buena idea hacer un pequeño paseo sin tanta exigencia física. El día estaba hermoso como para estar al aire libre, así que una vez que terminó mi turno de trabajo al mediodía, dos de ellos y yo nos tomamos un taxi hasta el inicio de la Playa Larga, distante a 4 km del centro de la ciudad 😃.
This beach was really very beautiful and colorful because from it you could see all kinds of things, including mountains, water, colorful rocks, sand, grass, trees and flowers. The place was really lovely and I was surprised to be able to see all that in the same place. Whenever I am given a choice, I always choose mountain over beach, but in this case I could choose beach as well. Another thing I liked is that it was not very crowded, as most of the tourists stay in the city center or visiting the glaciers, so this was a good place to rest ❣️.
Esta playa era realmente muy hermosa y colorida porque desde ella podías ver todo tipo de cosas, incluyendo montañas, agua, piedras de colores, arenilla, pasto, árboles y flores. El lugar era realmente encantador y me sorprendió poder ver todo eso en el mismo lugar. Cada vez que me dan a elegir, siempre elijo montaña antes que playa, pero en este caso podría elegir playa también. Otra cosa que me gustó es que no estaba muy concurrida, ya que la mayoría de los turistas se quedan en el centro de la ciudad o visitando a los glaciares, así que este era un buen lugar para descansar ❣️.
We walked as far as we could along the coast, but there came a point where we could go no further because we reached the cliff area. This forced us to climb up to the road and continue along the car path. Walking through this area with some height allowed us to see the water from another point of view in which we could see its blue color better. What we were seeing was the Beagle Channel, just in front of the Chilean Navarino Island. This channel is used as a passage for all the ships that need to do international trade, fishing, expeditions to Antarctica or even some tourist trips like the one to visit the Lighthouse at the End of the World ❣️.
Caminamos todo lo que pudimos por la costa, pero llegó un punto en el que ya no pudimos avanzar más porque llegamos a la zona de acantilados. Esto nos obligó a subir hasta la calle y continuar por el camino de los autos. Estar caminando por esta zona con algo de altura nos permitió ver el agua desde otro punto de vista en el cual se observaba mejor su color azul. Lo que estábamos viendo se trataba del Canal de Beagle, justo enfrente de la chilena Isla Navarino. Este canal se utiliza como paso para todos los barcos que necesitan hacer comercio internacional, pesca, expediciones a la Antártida o incluso algunos paseos turisticos como aquel para visitar el Faro del Fin del Mundo ❣️.
One interesting thing we saw on our walk was a large number of trees with the digüeñe fungus. We had seen this species in the forest on our previous walks, but in this area of the beach the trees were full. I admit that its color is very beautiful and eye-catching, and being edible it invites you to try it. I'm not a big fan of eating wild things for fear that they will make me sick, but I decided to try this mushroom one more time. This experience only served to reconfirm the first time: I don't like them because of their strange chewy texture 😅.
Algo interesante que vimos en nuestro paseo fue una gran cantidad de árboles con el hongo digüeñe. Ya habíamos visto esta especie en el bosque en nuestras caminatas anteriores, pero en esta zona de la playa los árboles estaban llenos. Admito que su color es muy hermoso y llamativo, y al ser comestible te invita a probarlo. Yo no soy muy fan de comer cosas silvestres por miedo a que me caigan mal, pero decidí probar este hongo una vez más. Esta experiencia solo sirvió para volver a confirmar la de la primera vez: no me gustan por su extraña textura chiclosa 😅.
This beach walk met just our expectation of a not-so-demanding hike but in a beautiful location. Talking a little with the owners of the hostel who have lived in the area for many years, we learned that despite the low temperatures throughout the year, there are still some people who go swimming on these shores. In the summer, the maximum temperatures do not exceed 20°C and the weather changes throughout the day, so I imagine that you have to be very eager to get in to endure all that cold. What do you think, is it worth doing it, or is it better to stay on the shore drinking mate? I'm definitely leaning towards the second option 😂.
Este paseo en la playa cumplió justo con nuestra expectativa de una caminata no tan exigente pero en un lugar hermoso. Hablando un poco con los dueños del hostel que viven en la zona hace muchos años, supimos que a pesar de las bajas temperaturas durante todo el año, igualmente hay algunas personas que se meten a nadar en estas costas. En el verano, las temperaturas máximas no superan los 20°C y con clima cambiante a lo largo de todo el día, por lo que me imagino que hay que tener muchas ganas de meterse para soportar todo ese frío. ¿Ustedes que piensan, que vale la pena hacerlo, o es mejor quedarse tomando mate en la orilla? Yo definitivamente me inclino por la segunda opción 😂.

¡Que preciosas fotografías Lauraaa! Que distinta de las playas que tenemos por aquí, porque se ven como con esa mezcla de montaña y mar. Yo también prefiero la montaña siempre y ahora que veo esta playa siento que esta sería la ideal para mí, aunque lo pensaría con una temperatura de 20° 😅😅, no sé, tal vez es muy frío para mí. ¿La puedrita turquesa la conseguiste en la orilla? Está demasiado hermosa!, es de mis colores favoritos, hazte un collar con ella, yo tampoco me habría animado con los hongos, me da miedo, ¿y si es venenoso? O ¿psicodélico? 😅😅😅. Saludos amiga 🫂💕

Los hongos se sabe que son comestibles, pero igual no me convencieron jaja. Tampoco me gusta mucho la idea de estar comiendo cosas silvestres, tengo miedo de que me hagan mal.
