This trip to Havana undoubtedly had peculiarities that no other had considered before, at least not exclusively, well, yes, whenever you go to places you try to know and take the best you can of what you live to store experiences, but, this one, the objective was to tourist. A trip before the probable goodbye to sweep up a list of places that we had passed over a thousand times, seeing them without actually observing them.
Éste viaje a La Habana tenía sin dudas peculiaridades que ningún otro antes ponderó, al menos no en exclusivo, pues, sí, siempre que uno va a lugares intenta conocer y llevarse lo mejor que puede de lo que vive para almacenar experiencias, pero, ésta vez, el objetivo era turistear. Un viaje antes del probable adiós para barrer con una lista de sitios a los que mil veces le habíamos pasado por arriba, viéndolos sin observar en realidad.
In these times, doing these types of things that normally one can never do in Cuba due to the economic precariousness that always exists, is undoubtedly crazy, I mean, who starts traveling and spending money visiting places, eating in restaurants, buying souvenirs to take as memories? It is sad that something so simple, so common, so healthy and necessary, because yes, it is necessary too, many have never had the opportunity to do it, or even those of us who have been lucky enough cannot think of repeating it often, or at least every some time.
Para los tiempos que corren hacer este tipo de cosas que normalmente uno nunca puede hacer en Cuba por la precariedad económica que siempre hay, es sin dudas una locura, o sea ¿quién se pone a viajar y a gastar dinero conociendo sitios, comiendo en restaurantes, comprando souvenires que llevar de recuerdo? Es triste que algo tan simple, tan común, tan sano y necesario, porque sí, es necesario también, muchos nunca hayan tenido la oportunidad de hacerlo, o incluso quiénes hemos tenido la suerte tampoco podamos pensar en repetirlo a menudo, o al menos cada cierto tiempo.
Luckily I have friends who are worth their weight in gold. People who are like... like... wait: they locate when it's really cold and you stand in a ray of sunshine? Well, my friends are like that ray of sunshine. So one of them saw fit to give me this trip (I have already given the gossip in previous posts) to create memories together, so that we could spend quality time, freed for a while from the daily boredom.
Por suerte tengo amigos y amigas que valen su peso en oro. Personas que son como... como... espera: ¿ubican cuando hace mucho frío y te paras en un rayito de sol? Bueno, mis amigos son como ese rayito de sol. Así que uno de ellos tuvo a bien regalarme este viaje (ya he dado el chisme en publicaciones anteriores) para crear memorias juntos, para que pasáramos tiempo de calidad, despejados un rato del hastío diario.
I was urged to come to the capital to finish some procedures that had been tense for me a year ago. As you know, every legal process, documents, issues of that nature bring with them terrible anxiety, moments of depression and one ends up losing faith, almost realizing that one has given up. Thank goodness we have those rays of sunshine to fill us with vitamins, yes, they are "vitamin people" who are there to feed our souls. @yecier did not think twice to accompany me in the process a few steps from the final goal, to see me in the spotlight break the record, as he always tells me, a goal that he saw me think about from minute one, that he saw me design, build and bet everything on it. This trip was in some way his early gift, and without a doubt there could not be a better way to reward me because I love traveling, it is one of my great passions, which luckily I have always been able to maintain. So: thank you, my friend, for making me so happy all week.
Me urgía venir a la capital a terminar unos trámites que hacía un año me traían tensa. Como saben, todo proceso legal, documentos, cuestiones de esa índole traen consigo una ansiedad terrible, momentos de depresión y llega una a perder la fe, casi a darse por vencida. Menos mal que tenemos esos rayitos de sol para llenarnos de vitamina, sí, son "personas vitaminas" que están para alimentarnos el alma. @yecier no lo pensó dos veces para acompañarme en el proceso a pocos pasos de la meta final, para verme en primera plana romper el récord, como siempre me dice, una meta que me vio pensar desde el minuto uno, que me vio diseñar, construir y apostarlo todo hacia ella. Éste viaje fue de algún modo su regalo anticipado, y sin dudas no pudo haber mejor forma de premiarme porque yo amo viajar, es una de mis grandes pasiones, que por suerte he podido siempre mantener. Así que: gracias, amigo mío, por hacerme tan feliz durante toda la semana.

Éste es ya el 5to post referido al tema y todavía me quedan unos cuantos. Es que fuimos a muchos lugares, sitios hermosos donde tomamos fotos buenísimas. Así que espero que gusten de revisar la colección en mi blog de PEAKD para no perderse ningún detalle.

So we started that Saturday morning heading to the National Capitol as the first stop of the day. I dressed comfortably because I knew that this would last the entire day.

My friend bought the tickets at the Artex store right in front and at 11:00 am sharp the tour began.
El Capitolio de Cuba, sitio del que nadie se va sin tomarse una foto, o unas cuantas. Yo misma tengo un montón, desde todos los ángulos, de día, de noche, sola, con amigos, sentada en el piso, subida hasta en las estatuas (cosa que esta vez no pude hacer porque me regañaron), en fin, tengo colecciones de fotos del Capitolio tomadas en el sin fin de viajes que he hecho a esa ciudad, parecen postales porque ese monumento queda hermoso en cualquier lente. Sin embargo, nunca había tenido la oportunidad de hacer el recorrido por dentro de la instalación, así que, por eso estaba en la lista. Mi amigo compró las entradas en la tienda de Artex que queda justo en frente y a las 11:00 am en punto comenzó el tour.

Apenas se abren las enormes puertas de la entrada queda en primera plana una estatua enorme, según dijo el guía la estatua más grande que existe bajo techo, pero luego Enrico, que es un tipo muy sabio e informado, corrigió su errata y me dijo que en realidad tenía el puesto número tres en esa clasificación. Está cubierta de oro 24, anteriormente había sido esculpida en bronce pero el salitre de la brisa que siempre azota en cuba corroe ese material y para evitar el desgaste de la pieza se mandó a bañar en ese otro metal para brindarle mejor conservación.

En el año 2010 se sometió a un proceso de restauración capital para devolverle su estructura y ambiente original así como sus funciones primigenias. Desde 2015 ha vuelto a ser la sede del parlamento cubano.
I didn't like the guide. He seemed to me to be a rather vulgar guy, who only sought to ingratiate himself with tourists and who also made several historical errors. He was trying to be funny but his comments were annoying. I think my impression was that of several in the group because more than one looked at him with a bad face 😬.
The tour was pleasant. We spent more than an hour inside the facility. I was impressed with the shelves in the library, they are beautiful, but the lighting is poor. In general, the entire establishment lacks light. According to the guide, it was something intentional to be consistent with the space and the elegance that it should convey. It wasn't clear to me that one thing would have to do with another, but oh well 🤷🏻♀️. There are many sculptures, valuable objects, a whole room with luxury tableware. Impressionist paintings and spectacular designs on the ceilings.
El guía no me agradó. Me pareció un tipo bastante vulgar, que solo buscaba congraciarse con los turistas y que además cometió varias erratas históricas. Intentaba ser chistoso pero sus comentarios molestaban. Creo que mi impresión fue la de varios en el grupo porque más de uno lo miró con mala cara 😬.
El recorrido fue agradable. Pasamos más de una hora dentro de la instalación. Quedé impresionada con los estantes de la biblioteca, son hermosos, pero tiene poca iluminación. De modo general a todo el establecimiento le falta luz. Según el guía era algo intencionado para ser coherente con el espacio y la elegancia que debía transmitir. No me quedó claro que tendría que ver una cosa con otra, pero bueno 🤷🏻♀️. Hay muchísimas esculturas, objetos valiosos, toda una sala con vajilla de lujo. Cuadros impresionistas y diseños espectaculares en los techos.
I really enjoyed that ride. But, above all things, I learned, and I like to take both things hand in hand, pleasure and knowledge 🤗.
