Greetings dear friends of #HaveYouBeenHere! We continue the tour of the beautiful city of Maracay on the two wheels of my bike and today I want to show you two points that are one of the most emblematic buildings of contemporary architecture of Maracay. The points that we will know today are: Aragua State Government Building and the Girardot City Hall.

Seguimos el recorrido por la hermosa ciudad de Maracay sobre las dos ruedas de mi bicicleta y hoy quiero enseñarles dos puntos que son una de las construcciones más emblemáticas de la arquitectura contemporánea de Maracay. Los puntos que conoceremos hoy son: Edificio de la gobernación del estado Aragua y la Alcaldía de Girardot.
Let's start with the headquarters of the Governor's Office of the state. This building is not only emblematic as a symbol of the city, but also for me it is a significant point of my childhood since my mother worked there and I played many times in its gardens.
Comencemos con la sede de la Gobernación del estado. Esta edificación no solo es emblemática como símbolo de la ciudad, sino que también para mí es un punto significativo de mi niñez puesto que mi mamá trabajaba en ese lugar y en sus jardines jugué muchísimas veces.
This building was built between 1973 and 1975 and served as headquarters for an organization dedicated to industrial and business development, not only of the city, but of the country, and is currently the headquarters of the regional government. It has six floors, a mezzanine, basement and a double-height ground floor, as an atrium, and its sides are hexagonal in shape.
Este edificio fue construido entre los años 1973 y 1975 y sirvió como sede para un organismo dedicado al desarrollo industrial y empresarial, no solo de la ciudad, sino del país, actualmente es la sede del gobierno regional. Cuenta con seis pisos, mezzanina, sótano y una planta baja de doble altura, a manera de atrio y sus laterales tienen forma hexagonal.
This structure was designed by architect José Puig, who won the National Architecture Award with the plans for this work. The building also has an auditorium annex, where the National Cinematheque in Maracay is located. It has a fountain on its main façade, which is not currently active, and evergreen gardens that maintain the charm of the building.
Esta estructura fue diseñada por el arquitecto José Puig, quien fue ganador del Premio Nacional de Arquitectura con los planos de esta obra. El edificio además cuenta con un auditorio anexo, donde funciona la sala de la Cinemateca Nacional en Maracay. Posee una fuente en su fachada principal que en estos momentos no está activa y unos jardines siempre verdes que mantienen el encanto de la edificación.
Near this building, we find the Municipal Palace of Girardot, governmental headquarters of the Atanasio Girardot municipality. It was built at the end of the 60's under the responsibility of Fruto Vivas and inaugurated in 1974.
Cerca de esa edificación, encontramos el Palacio Municipal de Girardot, sede gubernamental del municipio Atanasio Girardot. Fue construido a finales de la década de los 60 bajo la responsabilidad de Fruto Vivas e inaugurado en el año 1974.
This building is a concrete cube in clean work, with several social spaces on the first floor, including squares, a large hall where exhibitions are held, and another where the Agustín Padrón Library operates. Something that calls the attention of this structure, apart from its shape, is the amount of windows that it has, besides the upper structure that was destined to hanging gardens, at present, it is in disuse.
En esta edificación es un cubo de concreto en obra limpia, con diversos espacios sociales en la planta baja, entre ellos plazas, un amplio salón donde se realizan exposiciones, otro donde funciona la Biblioteca Agustín Padrón. Algo que llama la atención de esta estructura, aparte de su forma, es la cantidad de ventanas que posee, además de la estructura superior que estaba destinada a jardines colgantes, en la actualidad, está en desuso.
It has 6 floors, a terrace and a basement. The building is located in the middle of many beautiful gardens, with many ornamental plants and trees. Also, this building has the particularity of having in its green areas several sculptures, including a pedestrian statue of Simon Bolivar, a bust of Manuel Atanasio Girardot, a jaguar in bronze and the Fat Man Suspended, which is one of the most innovative sculptures in the city, because it is hanging from a cable several meters above the ground between Vista Hermosa neighborhood and the Municipal Palace.
Tiene 6 pisos, una terraza y un sótano. La edificación se encuentra en medio de muchos jardines de gran belleza, con muchas plantas ornamentales y árboles. Así mismo, esta edificación tiene la particularidad de poseer en sus áreas verdes diversas esculturas, entre ellas una estatua pedestre de Simón Bolívar, un busto de Manuel Atanasio Girardot, un jaguar en bronce y el Gordo Suspendido, la cual es una de las esculturas más innovadoras en la ciudad, debido a que se encuentra colgando de un cable a varios metros del piso entre Residencias Vista Hermosa y el Palacio Municipal.
It is truly a blessing to have two such beautiful buildings adorning my city and to be able to enjoy them on my bicycle. If you are from Maracay or you are visiting the city, I recommend you to visit it, you will have a great time.
Es realmente una bendición contar con dos edificaciones tan hermosas que adornen mi ciudad y que pueda disfrutar de ellas montada en mi bicicleta. Si eres de Maracay o estás de visita por la ciudad, te recomiendo que no dejes de visitarla, pasarás un buen rato.
