If I have the time and energy, I'd explore the place by foot. That way it's easier to navigate through those narrow streets and at the same time, you get to see what they got to offer up close. 😁

IMO there are certain cities that can only be explored by foot maybe with an additional hop-on-hop-off-bus or such. But any of the old European cities or for example New York City - you cannot get to know those cities unless you put in some series walking times.
I'm not much of a shopper but in the streets of Bordeaux, all those little, individual i.e. non-chain stores are a sight to behold. What a contrast to the soulless malls here in the US.
