When I was a child and I watched Christmas movies, or where people were playing with snow, I wondered if snow was the same as ice in the fridge, only in large quantities.
During my visit to Spain I had the privilege of going to Sierra Nevada in Granada, I never thought that I would get rid of the doubt I had when I was a child, however one weekend some friends told me that they would go to Sierra Nevada if I wanted to go with They of course told them yes! As in the season that I was there it was very cold since it was winter, they told me that I had to dress warmer than normal.
Cuando era niña y veía películas de navidad, o donde las personas estuviesen jugando con nieve me preguntaba si la nieve era lo mismo que el hielo de la nevera solo que a gran cantidad.
En mi visita a España tuve el privilegio de ir a Sierra Nevada en Granada , nunca pensé en que saldría de la duda que tenia cuando era niña , sin embargo un fin de semana unos amigos me dicen que irían a Sierra Nevada que si quería ir con ellos les dije por su puesto que si! Como en la temporada que estuve allá hacia mucho frio ya que era invierno me indicaron a que tenía que ir bien abrigada más de lo normal.
I was advised to wear sweatpants under the jeans, wear gloves, wear a coat under the jacket, double socks as it would be very cold. I did what they told me and I was well dressed, it should be noted that these recommendations were given to me because I did not live in Spain and therefore I did not have appropriate clothing for that season of the year, which was winter.
Me aconsejaron usar un pantalón deportivo debajo de los jeans, usar guantes, usar un abrigo debajo de la chaqueta, medias dobles ya que estaría muy helado. Yo hice lo que ellos me dijeron y fui bien abrigada, cabe destacar que estas recomendaciones me las dieron porque yo no vivía en España y por lo tanto no tenia ropa apropiada para esa estación de año, que era invierno.
When we were on the road I started to get dizzy since the road had many curves, for this reason every so often they made a stop for me to get some fresh air and see the landscape where we were going.
When I started to see the snowy mountains I said wow, like in the movies, it was really beautiful, even though we hadn't actually arrived at the site as such.
Cuando íbamos por el camino empecé a marearme ya que tenía muchas curvas la carretera, por tal motivo cada cierto tiempo hacían una parada para que tomara aire fresco y viéramos el paisaje por donde íbamos.
Cuando empecé a ver las montañas con nieve dije wow como en las películas de verdad fue bellísimo y eso que en realidad no habíamos llegado como tal al sitio.
Arriving at the Sierra Nevada parking lot, I noticed that around the houses, food stores, there was snow, real snow, at first I tried not to step on where there was snow because I didn't want to be cold.
Al llegar al estacionamiento de la Sierra Nevada observe que alrededor de las casas, establecimientos de ventas de alimentos, había nieve, nieve de verdad, al principio trataba de no pisar por donde había nieve porque no quería tener frio.
A few minutes later I was touching the snow and I don't know if it was because of the emotion but I never felt cold being there, my cheeks were hot, I felt a great euphoria, I started to make snow balls and notice that it was like ice, but with a different consistency.
Pocos minutos después estaba tocando la nieve y no se si por la emoción pero nunca tuve frió estando allí, mis mejillas estaban calientes, sentía una gran euforia, empecé a hacer bolitas de nieve y notar que era como el hielo, pero con diferente consistencia.
Before going home after spending hours there, we went to a restaurant, everyone ordered a hot coffee while I ordered a coke, and since I noticed that it was only me who felt differently, I ordered a hot chocolate, I drank the chocolate and I took the soda for the road. Everyone said that to go down from there to the city, if we were going to get very dizzy but that was normal I chose to sleep and that way I did not feel dizzy, however I began to feel cold because the snow on my shoes had already melted. When I got to the house where I was staying, I opted to turn on the fireplace, we were very cold and that was the only way we could reach our temperature.
Antes de irnos a casa después de haber pasado horas allí fuimos a un restaurante, todos pidieron un café caliente mientras que yo pedí una coca cola , y como note que solamente era yo la que sentía diferente pedí un chocolate caliente , me tome el chocolate y me lleve el refresco para el camino . Todos decían que para bajar de allí a la ciudad , si nos íbamos a marear mucho pero que era normal yo opte por dormir y así no sentí mareos sin embargo empecé a tener frió porque la nieve de mis zapatos ya se había derretido. Al llegar a la casa donde me estaba quedando opte por prender la chimenea teníamos mucho frió y solo así pudimos llegar a nuestra temperatura.
If I was asked today: would you want to go to Sierra Nevada again? I would never hesitate to say yes, if I want to, since it was an unforgettable experience, nine years after I have been here I feel the same emotion remembering the experience.
Si me preguntaran hoy:¿ querrías volver a ir a Sierra Nevada? nunca lo dudaría en volver a decir si, si quiero ya que fue una experiencia inolvidable, aquí nueve años de haber ido siento la misma emoción recordando la experiencia vivida.
