Hello to the good people of the whole world from Ukraine. Today I want to show you my tourist discovery of my country. I have heard about this place for a long time, but somehow I never got the chance to get here. This is a very old castle, and in the past a fortress in the city of Mukachevo in Transcarpathia, in the Western part of Ukraine, not far from the Hungarian border. We are talking about the Palanok castle or, more simply, the Mukachevo castle.
Привіт хорошим людям усього світу з України. Сьогодні хочу показати вам моє туристичне відкриття моєї країни. Про це місце я давно чула, але якось не випадала нагода сюди потрапити. Це дуже давній замок, а в минулому фортеця в місті Мукачево на Закарпатті, в Західній частині України, недалеко від Угорського кордону. Мове іде про замок Паланок або простіше – мукачівський замок.
When you first hear the name "Palanok castle", for some reason it seems that it is the castle of some princesses, palanoks, but in fact, everything is not so. It is still worth visiting such places with a tour guide, because it is one thing to wander around such walls on your own, but to understand what happened and why there is so much noise around this castle is another thing that enriches the horizons)))
Коли вперше чуєш назву "замок Паланок" чомусь здається, що це замок якихось княгинь, паланок, але насправді все зовсім не так. Відвідувати такі місцини все ж варто з екскурсоводом, адже самостійно походити побродити такими мурами це одне, а от зрозуміти, що відбувалося і чому стільки галасу навколо цього замку - це вже інша річ, яка збагачує кругозір)))
In order to immerse yourself in history a little, I will tell you about the most famous and most popular of all the castles of Transcarpathia. It is believed to be one of the oldest fortresses in Ukraine. It is located on a mountain that majestically demonstrates its beauty.
What kind of word is this - Palanok? It turns out that the "palanok" is a fence made of oak palisade, which surrounds the moat around the castle hill fortress.
Щоб хоч трішки зануритись в історію, розповім вам про найвідоміший і найпопулярніший зі всіх замків Закарпаття. Вважається, що це одна з найдавніших фортець в Україні. Розташована вона на горі, яка велично демонструє його красу.
Що ж це за слово таке - Паланок? Виявляється, що "паланок" - це огорожа з дубового частоколу, яким оточують рів навколо фортеці замкової гори.
The tour guide immediately hints that this is a castle of secrets and riddles, because it is not known for sure how the possession of this castle took place, when exactly and who conquered it. But the fact that the majority of people who travel through Transcarpathia and visit Mukachevo come to this castle Palanok is clear.
Екскурсовод одразу натякає, що це замок таємниць і загадок, адже достеменно невідомо, як саме відбувалося володіння цим замком, коли саме і хто відвойовував чи завойовував його. А от те, що більшість людей які мандрують Закарпаттям і відвідують Мукачево, приїздять саме в цей замок Паланок, то це однозначно.
It is considered the main attraction of the city, in the medieval walls of which many mysteries and secrets are hidden.
It is said that this fortress is located on a mountain of volcanic origin. But visitors can notice that the city itself is located on a continuous plain.
Він вважається головною визначною пам’яткою міста, в середньовічних стінах якої таїться безліч загадок і таємниць.
Розповідають, що ця фортеця знаходиться на горі вулканічного походження. А от відвідувачі можуть помітити, що саме місто розташоване на суцільній рівнині.
But at the same time, there are legends that people created this mountain with their own hands, literally "piled up" the mountain, which cost them enormous pain, hence, they say, the name of the city itself "Mukachevo" - "torment".
Але паралельно ходять легенди, що цю гору створили люди власними руками, в буквальному сенсі "насипали" гору, що коштувало їм величезних мук, звідси, мовляв, і назва самого міста "Мукачево" - "мука, чи муки".
Whether it is worth believing or not - as the tour guide says, it is difficult to say, but the fact remains that people need to build cities around a powerful fortress in order to be able to defend themselves against numerous enemies.
If you trust the numbers, then there is no accuracy here either, because no one can clearly name the date of foundation of this castle. And here there is another origin of the name of the city and the castle, which seems to have been the territory of a large mill where flour was ground and sold, which gave the name of the city and the famous castle.
Варто цьому вірити чи ні – як каже екскурсовод, важко сказати, але фактом лишається потреба людей будувати міста навколо потужної фортеці, щоб бути в змозі захиститися від численних ворогів.
Якщо довіряти цифрам, то і тут точності немає, адже чітко назвати дату заснування цього замку ніхто не може. І тут зявляється ще одне походження назви і міста і замку, що начебто це була територія великого млина, де мололи муку і продавали, що і дало назву міста і славнозвісному замку.
We were also told that the castle building is full of secret passages and underground passages where people and livestock could hide in case of danger. These passages, located under the walls and towers, have been preserved to this day, although we were not allowed to visit them. The tower was built in several stages, whether all at once or at different times is also unknown, but the walls are so strong that they have withstood a very large number of wars.
Нам розповідали також, що в будівлі замку повно таємних ходів і підземних переходів, в яких могли в разі небезпеки сховатися люди і худоба. Ці ходи, розміщені під стінами і вежами, збереглися і до нинішнього дня, правда відвідувати їх нам не дозволили. Вежа будувалася в кілька етапів, чи всі за раз чи в різні часи теж невідомо, але мури настільки міцні, що витримали дуже велику кількість воєн.
Due to the impossibility of maintaining such a majestic building, it was used as a university, and as an art school, and as a military base for the entire period of its existence, and there were times when prisoners were tortured here. Spooky stories are told by local residents.
Через неможливість утримувати таку величну споруду, її за весь період існування використовували і як університет, і як школу мистецтв, і як військову базу, а були часи що тут катували в'язнів. Моторошні історії розповідають місцеві жителі.
But no matter how it turned out, today these walls demonstrate the power and strength of the rulers, wisdom and endurance, which cannot but cause pride. Walk through the enclosed courtyards and you will want to visit this castle again and again.
Та як би там не склалося, сьогодні ці мури демонструють міць і силу правителів, мудрість і витривалість, що не може не викликати гордість. Пройдіться по закритих внутрішніх двориках, і вам захочеться відвідати цей замок знову і знову.
