Wowo Campsite • England Countryside Camping

We have adjusted to our new life in London and it is now time for some relaxation and communion with nature. This camping trip was planned months ahead and I was a bit hesitant to join the trip as the weather is too cold for camping in this season.

We headed out further south of London to a place called Wowo Campsite located in Sheffield Park, Uckfield England.

2.jpg

The travel was long but the countryside view was amazing and we enjoyed our long travel.

3.jpg

We finally reached our destination and we didn't know what to expect on our camping trip. We have been camping in the Philippines but it was always on the beach. We have never experienced camping in the countryside and in cold weather.

All visitors are to check in to the reception upon entry.

Cost:

Standard Camping - £10 per night
weekend Camping - £14 per night (minimum of 2 nights)
Car Parking - £5 per car per night
Fire Wood - £7 per crate
Dogs - £5 per dog per night

For more information you can visit their site
Wowo Campsite

Inside the reception area, there is a shop where you could buy supplies and souvenirs. We brought everything that we needed so we didn't check the shop for anything else.

7.jpg

8.jpg

There is also a spa at the campsite and other services are offered in the reception.

9.jpg

Just in front of the reception area is a shed where you could collect the firewood that you paid for. You could also bring your firewood but has to be free from nails, paint or varnish. Unlike in the wilds, you cannot collect wood in the area for your campfire.

10.1.jpg

Posted in the reception area is the map of the whole campsite. There are five areas for camping and our reservation is in the Upper Moat area.

10.jpg

On the way to our campsite, you can already feel the calm and peaceful atmosphere of the surroundings.

11.jpg

Campsite rules are posted around the camp and they are very specific about the noise regulations. Everyone wants quiet which is a good thing as we came here to relax.

12.jpg

Here are the campsites at Wowo Camp. I took a couple of photos of the locations from the entrance. Most of the sites didn't have many campers and it is possible to isolate yourself among the other campers.

20.jpg

21.jpg

Just beside the Grassy Field campsite is the Wild Spa. There is a small shed which I think is the steam room. I wanted to see what was inside but it was locked.

22.jpg

23.jpg

This area says Mud on the board, I am just not sure if it is for a mud bath. I don't think anyone would go for a dip in this area.

24.jpg

25.jpg

We have reached our campsite location in the Upper Moat. It seems this is a popular spot as there are so many tents already setup in this location.

26.jpg

27.jpg

28.jpg

We chose our spot at the very end of the campsite which is far away from all the other campers. It was the perfect spot for us as it had a bench, picnic table and a fireplace area with benches around it.

29.jpg

30.jpg

31.jpg

The spot that we chose is also near the toilet, shower and wash area. It would be convenient for us to use the toilet and not walk too far in the middle of the night.

32.jpg

Their wash area, shower and toilets were very clean. Some of the toilets included a hair dryer, paper towels, and a shower with a heater. I could say that this is already a luxury camping to have hot water in the shower.

33.jpg

34.jpg

After we have settled in we started the fire to cook our dinner. It felt great smelling the scent of wood burning surrounding our camp. I felt free for the moment and had nothing to think about but enjoy my surroundings.

35.jpg

Everyone just stared at the burning wood and waited for the wok to start boiling. It was like a cooking show outdoors. No modern conveniences of stoves and ovens.

36.jpg

37.jpg

38.jpg

Just behind our tents is the border to the campsite and it is fenced. Just be wary as there are a lot of nettles near the moat. It would be very itchy once it touches your skin also be careful of your pets around the nettles.

39.jpg

From the distance, we have a lot of neighbors but we could barely hear any noise from them. Just the sounds of children playing and no loud music can be heard.

40.jpg

41.1.jpg

Everyone was hungry and was waiting patiently for the food to be ready. The scent of delicious food surrounded the area and I was thinking if the aroura of our food reached the other campers.

41.2.jpg

For dinner we had salmon with black bean sauce.

41.3.jpg

41.4.jpg

Philippine Lumpiang Shanghai. It is a fried spring roll mixed with vegetables either with fish or pork. Best served with sweet and sour sauce.

41.5.jpg

We also had some buttered vegetables which is a perfect addition to our meal.

41.6.jpg

41.7.jpg

Our meal was great and everything tasted so delicious. Eating outdoors is very different and makes you want to eat more. I had a couple of servings and kept coming back for more.

41.8.jpg

It was getting dark and we finished dinner before we lost the light. Soon it will be completely dark with just the light from our campfire and a couple of led lamps.

41.jpg

It was so quiet as it became darker, and the weather became colder and colder. The warmth from our campfire was very soothing and the crackle sounds of the firewood were very relaxing.

42.jpg

We shared stories around the fire and enjoyed each one's company. We talked until the firewood was almost out. We then went back to our own tents to sleep for the night with no idea how cold it would be.

44.jpg

As the rest of our neighbors slept the coldness came creeping in our tent. We had an inflatable bed, a sleeping bag, a blanket and a duvet. Still, it was not enough, we still felt the cold but we were able to sleep.

45.jpg

It was a foggy morning when we woke up and was like I was still dreaming. It was not too cold anymore and we smelled the scent of wood burning. Breakfast was being cooked and a warm cup of coffee is very inviting.

46.jpg

Our neighbors were all still asleep while we were already preparing breakfast. The morning was very quiet and you could only hear the songs of the birds around us.

47.jpg

48.jpg

49.jpg

50.jpg

51.jpg

52.jpg

Arroz Caldo was being cooked in the pot. It is a Philippine porridge with ginger, eggs and chicken. Best added with spring onions, fried garlic and a squeeze of lemon.

53.1.jpg

53.jpg

54.jpg

55.jpg

56.jpg

We also had a great Philippine breakfast combination which a lot of you might not be familiar with.

57.jpg

58.jpg

We have the Tortang Talong which is roasted eggplant, peeled, mixed with egg then fried.

59.jpg

62.jpg

Hotdog from the supermarket

63.jpg

Tuyo which is dried sardines and a very popular breakfast in the Philippines. A bit expensive to purchase here in London. It must be cooked outdoors and it is very smelly when cooked. Be wary as your neighbors might complain about the smell but it is very delicious when eaten with fried rice.

64.jpg

Garlic Fried Rice.

65.jpg

Here is my plate and I forgot to mention the Danggit on the left side of my plate. It is dried rabbit fish and is also very tasty especially when dipped in vinegar. On the lower left is just regular corned beef from the supermarket.

66.jpg

Breakfast was so good and I had to come back for more. It was like having breakfast again in the Philippines.

67.jpg

After breakfast, I had to do a little photoshoot of our fur companions as they were too irresistible.

68.jpg

69.jpg

70.jpg

71.jpg

It was a lovely camping experience and would not hesitate to do this again. Being out in nature is a great opportunity to recharge and release all your stress.

Thank you for joining us today and we hope you enjoyed camping with us. Maybe it's time for you to go out camping.

Hope to see you again soon.
Cheers!

Hello Ryan and mhel been a good 4 months since the 14th of January and I see you love it in the uk. The camping must have been cold as the summer is not yet fully awake but I could almost smell great scents from the blog. The food looks amazing
Happy that you are back in the blogging swing

Hey @brittandjosie we are loving it here and slowly exploring and discovering our new home. Camping would have been really great except for the extreme cold at night. Yes you are correct the scent of summer is almost. Some of the scents are new to us. We have so much to share and just keep on shooting whenever we go out and just save the photos for the meantime.

That’s the hive life right there ,
There is. A story in everything hahahah
I am half you are adjusting so well
