As with most Spanish neighbourhoods, churches can be seen all around. Many of them had been under renovation, so a lot of esoteric art is forgotten. In order to bring up a new culture, the old needs to be demolished.
We had a daytrip with friends visiting the part of the city, in which most locals even wont dare to visit. As a long-time adventurer and an old friend living in the area, there was nothing to be scared of.
The mountain areas are intriguing for a Finnish person, since there are very few high hills, mostly flat farmland, forests and swamps. The erosion due the poor cultivation methods can be seen clearly here, permaculture is slowly coming back after a few centuries of mass production.
Next to the park the local gipsies sell their products in the popup-stands, prices being usually three times cheaper, than in the central Malaga. Presumably the lockdown measures have the least effect on the poor people, who never relied on handouts, but each other.
The Palma-Palmilla area is not for anyone, the people like to be left alone, and there is a lot of hustling going on, so pointing cameras on the wrong spot can result in some shouting.
My friend has a travelling channel in Youtube, so there is some fresh video footage from the area. The lockdowns make going around a bit challenging, but fortis fortuna adiuvat, as they used to say back in the day.
