Today, in sunny weather but cold temperatures and strong winds, we actually wanted to hike around the Rantum Basin on Sylt. That would have been an 11 km descent. We left early because the wind was just too icy.
We drove the 5 km from Westerland to the port of Rantum and then booked a parking space at the port. At this time of year, there isn't really much going on, so there were plenty of parking spaces available.
Then we set off on the hiking trail heading north, but when we reach the first open space, we realize that the wind is almost blowing us away from the dyke. But at 3° outside it feels like -8°. So we said we'd go to the first park bench, take a few nice photos and then go back again.
But as you can see from the photos, it is beautiful.

After the short but windy walk, we treated ourselves to coffee and a slice of cake.

Heute, bei sonnigem Wetter, aber kalten Temperaturen und starkem Wind wollten wir eigentlich das Rantum Becken auf Sylt um wandern. Das wäre ein 11 km lang Rundwanderweg gewesen. Vorab wir haben vorzeitig abgebrochen, da der Wind einfach zu eisig war.
Wir sind von Westerland die 5 km bis zum Hafen von Rantum gefahren und haben uns dann am Hafen ein Parkplatz gebucht. In der jetzigen Jahreszeit ist nicht wirklich viel los, somit waren ausreichend Parkplätze vorhanden.
Dann haben wir den Wanderweg Richtung Norden in Angriff genommen und packen aber schon an der ersten freien Fläche, dass der Wind uns fast vom Deich weg weht. Bei 3° Außentemperaturen fühlt es sich aber an wie -8°. Somit haben wir gesagt wir gehen bis zur ersten Parkbank machen ein paar schöne Fotos und gehen dann wieder zurück.
Wie er auf den Fotos sehen könnt, ist es aber wunderschön.

Nach dem kurzen, aber windigen Spaziergang haben wir uns dann Kaffee und ein Stück Kuchen gegönnt.
