RE: A Peaceful Walk in a Crowded State: Finding a Sneaky Bushwalk.

Many times pictures distract me from the text. Other times there is not much text and the picture just stares me in the face. Today I was guided through your hike frame by frame with cute comments along each picture. I liked how you aligned some pictures side by side and I should have known the last picture would be a lone mushroom.

Yesterday I had myself a long walk into the forest. I asked my wife why we don't buy some land in the countryside. We don't own most of the trees around us. The land is owned by the university or by the city. I asked her what she thought of moving out to the country and raising our own food. Her answer was amazingly wise. She said: First, you can never own anything anyway. Second, take care of of the land you have. Third, you will need the medical care that is four blocks away. Fourth, you have a community that supports you and a city that provides public transportation and services you couldn't get anywhere else.

I still don't know why wives are always right, but that's life.

Yesterday afternoon my son and I spend a half hour watching this wood pecker. I thought we were becoming friends, but as soon as I got my camera out the pecker flew away. I don't mind never owning these woods. I don't mind sharing our woods with 10 million people in Seoul as long as they never figure out the trail that leads to our house.

I love this. Wives ARE always right, and you seem like you have a good one. You don't have to own a bit of land. It's not even permanent. Best tend to the nature all around, even if it's in a city. And teach your kids how important it is too. Love the woodpecker! And I love how you appreciate nature too. Thanks so much for your kind words. 🌿💚🍄
