Maybe this was the reason that many poets and artists lived and worked there... probably they saw the same beauty as you and got creative :)
That canal seems greenish, yes,there is vegetation growing around and in the water. It is refreshing, but don't even ask if there are mosquitoes. (p.s. there are :D )
