Lago Nero (Black Lake) - Abetone Dancing in the rain

Sometimes it happen that events roll down and chain in the strangest of way, a walk setted up for one day but as the day grow near the weather intesify it's harshness, winter close in and most of the friends leave the walk for other, safer activities. The day come but only a few remain to go, the sun shine bright on the day but noone had anymore the will to walk upward a mountain, yes no yes no. Yes let's try tomorrow it's too late now. The sun shines winter can wait.

Sunday comes dressed in a grey elegant suite, it's early let's go.

By the time we are at the start of the walk rain has come and mist don't leave, we swear, we walk into the woods.

The road is not easy to find the red and white signals get lost in the low visibility and drop of water. What could have been a cake walk in a clear day start to look like a fight for survival. And so with keeping it safe we walk with the objective of doing so if the rain keep being just as light as it is now.

The woods get thicker and the leaves protect us from the weather revealing a speachless magic trick and throgh the dancing tree trunk and lost sights we blindly hop toward the top.

The colors and the smell of the wet foliage evoke a sense of long lost memories and a cozy fireside. While walking on the natural stairs made of roots and trunks the fly agaric shows vividly it's presence, one of the most infamous mushrooms in the woodlands brightly resonates. While amazed by the finding I wonder what secret it keep with itself protected by is poisonus beauty. How deep his secrets are entertwined with the forest? The rain call for our attention and so we pursue further as the top draws near.

The forest ends suddenly leaving the stage to the siluhettes of the mountains covered in big heavy misty clothes. We feel we are close but can't tell by how much. A thunder strike not to far off.

The landscape is beautiful, the small bushes change from green to red and warmly chant under the mist veil, with rocks popping up from the coloured carpet. But there's not much time left we need to move fast and decide to leave before the storm come over. The silence is interrupted only by the mumbling of the clouds.

As we almost left the idea of reaching the lake we find ourself right in front of it, maybe the name Black Lake is just a common naming convention but to me it presented itself with dressed up for the night, black sourrounded by white fairies. There they will dance for the winter. But visitors are not welcome to this party, take a peak but then soon after the thunder reminded us that we belong somewhere else.

And so we rushed carefully back on the road, tracing back the trail through the mist the landscape changed one minute from another, rain come and go stronger and stronger.

After some scary minutes the forest welcomed us back covering and protecting us. Close there was a refuge where we took a break to eat and drink. We were safe now and could now slowly descend back.

I don't reccomend walking under bad weather circustamces, but it's very induvidual decision to go against some basic rules, sometimes danger hides even in the most safe of situation. Keep your sense active and have fun!
