Hello friends, how are you all? I hope everyone is doing well.
Today I will share with you a beautiful travel experience of mine and also some useful information about an important structure of our country.
A few days ago, I went to visit one of the prides of our country, the Jamuna Bridge. Many of you may know this bridge as the Bangabandhu Bridge. I had been wanting to go there and walk on the bridge for a long time. But unfortunately, due to Eid coming up, there were very strict rules on the road and on the bridge.

The police and guards were on high alert on the bridge. Their main goal was to ensure that no one stopped their car and got on the bridge. Because Eid was coming up, everyone was rushing home, and if someone stopped their car, a big jam would form. This was mainly done for the safety of our common people. So despite wanting to, I did not get a chance to get out of the car. But I did not give up. I asked the driver to slow down the car a little. And in the meantime, I took a few pictures from the moving car with difficulty.

You can see the beautiful view of the bridge and the road conditions in the pictures I took today.
The huge forest on both sides of the bridge is truly eye-catching. When I was taking pictures, I was looking out the window at how many beautiful yellow flowers were blooming amidst the greenery. Seeing the forest and the trees really touched my heart.

I really wanted to get out of the car, walk a little inside the forest and take some beautiful pictures of the flowers up close. But due to the strict Eid rules, entering the forest was completely prohibited. So I only had to see the beauty of the forest from afar, I couldn't go inside. However, I decided in my heart that when the Eid crowd subsides, I will go there again in the future and explore the forest very well.

Anyway, it's not enough to just walk around, we all need to know something about this huge bridge. Let us know the detailed information about the bridge:

Location and Connection:
This huge bridge is built on the Jamuna River. It has made the communication between the east and west of our country very easy. On the east bank of the bridge is Bhuiyanpur in Tangail district and on the west bank is Sirajganj district. This bridge connects these two districts together. Due to this, people from the northern region can now easily travel to Dhaka.

Size and dimensions of the bridge:
The Jamuna Bridge or Bangabandhu Bridge is the second longest bridge in our Bangladesh. Its total length is 4.8 kilometers. The bridge is 18.5 meters wide and its largest span is 100 meters. You will be surprised to know that it is the 11th longest bridge in the world and the 6th longest bridge in South Asia. It is the fifth largest in the world in terms of river water flow.

Construction history:
The initiative to build this bridge was first taken in 1994. Its work began on October 15 of that year. After about four years of work, it was officially opened for traffic on June 23, 1998. The famous South Korean company Hyundai built this bridge.

Construction cost and calculation of money:
The total cost of building this huge bridge was about 3,745.6 million taka (or 696 million dollars). Part of this money was provided by the World Bank, ADB and the Bangladesh government. The most interesting thing is that the target was to collect this money from the toll in 25 years. But all the construction costs of the bridge were incurred 7 years before the scheduled time! Up to the fiscal year 2021-22, the toll collected from this bridge was 7,745.9 million taka. That means that about 3,328 million taka more than the cost was collected.
Current toll or fare:
A fixed rate of toll has to be paid to cross the bridge. According to the rules of the Bangladesh Bridge Authority, the current toll for motorcycles is 50 taka, the toll for cars or jeeps is 550 taka, and the toll for small buses is 750 taka.

Some problems and cracks in the bridge:
Initially, only single meter gauge trains were supposed to run on this bridge. But later, the broad gauge line was started and it was said that trains would run 8 times a day. As a result, cracks appeared in some places on the bridge in 2008. At first, everyone thought that this was due to the running of trains, but later it was learned that it was mainly due to construction work or planning errors. Then a Chinese company was given the responsibility to repair the cracks. Now, trains run very slowly over this bridge or are sometimes completely closed.

New railway bridge:
Since the old bridge was having problems with train cracks, a completely new railway bridge has been built just 300 meters north of the Jamuna Bridge. This is now the largest railway bridge in the country. Now all trains travel over this new bridge.
