The Story behind Casa Gorordo
Before diving into our adventure, let's talk about the star of the show the Casa Gorordo. This beautiful ancestral home located in the heart of Cebu City is not just a pretty face it is also a living testament to the city's rich history.
The Casa Gorordo was Built in the 1850s it is originally belonged to the prominent Gorordo family a name deeply intertwined with Cebu's social and political landscape. It also served as their family residence for generations witnessing significant events in Cebu's past.
Over time,The Casa Gorordo was transformed from a private residence into a museum which offering a glimpse of the lifestyle of a wealthy Filipino family during the Spanish colonial era.It is also like your are stepping back in time! The house of the Gorordo has been meticulously preserved showcasing the architectural styles and interior design of the era it is truly making it a historical treasure.
Stepping into the Casa Gorordo is like entering a time capsule. The Casa Gorordo is a beautiful example of bahay na bato architecture a style that blends indigenous Filipino design with Spanish colonial influences. The first thing that struck us was the grand staircase perfect for those Instagram worthy shots as we wandered through the rooms we were captivated by the intricate details the antique furniture, the delicate porcelain and the beautifully crafted wooden floors. Each room told a story hinting at the lives of the people who once called this place home.
We explored the sala or living room imagine the grand gatherings and lively conversations that must have taken place there.

Family dining takes place in front of the recreational space accompanied by an ornate cupboard which holds their elegant silverware. The Gorordos preserved expensive Geisha cups as part of their collection while such cups appeared as Geishas only when exposed to light.
Old plates and brown cups together with kitchen tools create a visual display in the kitchen area.
Simple household items including plates and cups as well as farming implements demonstrate many aspects of daily life and difficulties faced by ancestors. What did they eat? How did they organize their home affairs? These items reveal essential insights about their daily life through silent communication.
