Island Hopping to Leyte's Cuatro Islas

What"s up Hivers!

I normally spend my summer vacation in Leyte with my family because it is the only time we can all be together as a family. We celebrate fiestas together, we participate in fun runs as a family, and we make the most of our vacation. We had intended to go island hopping to the Cuatro Islas with our neighbor, not just our family. One of the most memorable trips we've ever taken.

We went to the market the day before our island hopping to buy our food and some other necessities and later that night we began packing, all of us were quite enthusiastic for tomorrow. We changed when the alarm went off and double-checked that everything was in order before heading to Inopacan to rent a pump boat for our island hopping. My sister-in-law suggested that we visit the Cuatro Islas (means four islands) it is a group of islands in the province of Leyte. The islets are Apid, Digyo, Himokilan and Mahaba, these four islets are of different sizes, yet they all provide a spectacular outlook.

We rented one pump boat for the whole family, it was white and not too big or too small. We were told to wear life jackets for safety reasons. Here's a photo of me, my husband and our daughter and the company. During the ride, everyone was quiet and focused on the scenery in front of them, then looked at the others and smiled. They seemed nervous at first, but you could tell they were excited to see what we'd see when we arrive.

And folks wow! Take a look at that breathtaking scenery. From the cloudy blue sky to the tall green trees, the stunning white sand and the glistening blue sea. Is this true? Is it true that I'm in this wonderful and gorgeous location? We took pictures while marveling at the scenery.

We sought for a nice area near our nipa-style cottage to store the pump boat so we wouldn't have to look for it later. As we get closer, I find the place even more beautiful. My heart is racing and I can't wait to step down and explore the entire islet. But I'm curious as to which of the four islet we've visited first.

And there when we stepped down the boat we realized how hot it was, we ran to the nearest cottage and decided to stay there. The place was super clean. We asked the boatmen the name of the islet and they said it's Digyo. Before we roam around we decided to eat first since we're hungry already we decided not to swim on this islet and just roam around so we can go to the next islet.

Digyo is the smallest of the four islets, although it does have a sand bar that the other three don't. While wandering around, I saw that the islet is surrounded by coconut trees and yes it is so small that it didn't take us an hour to walk around the entire islet we even kept stopping to snap pictures. I invited my daughter to be my model and she did an excellent job. As you can see in the photos, the sea is glistening and inviting you to dive in, we also visited its white sand bar which was wonderful and we even wrote the name of the islet but I apologize for the incorrect spelling lol. Overall, the area is not overly congested, allowing you to fully enjoy your visit.

We're ready to leave the smallest island and head to the next island which is known as Mahaba (means long). I looked back before climbing up I really loved the place.

And we can already see it, the island is full of massive rocks with a variety of rock formations.

And now we've arrived. Hello, Mahaba. I'm excited to explore you. Take a look at the pristine sand and those towering trees. The kids were even more ecstatic now that they could swim.

We looked for a place to stay and we stayed beside this huge rocks, it was different than Digyo since it have huge rocks all over the island. Right after we settled our things others rushed to the sea to swim, some took a rest, some decided to play volleyball then there's my husband who dragged me and my mother-in-law saying we'll catch fish since there were a lot of small fishes in the area we were staying. He was eager on catching one, but I didn't want to get wet so he played with our daughter. I was in charge of looking and if I saw one they'd rush over to me to catch it.

We were meant to visit four islands but we decided against going to Himokilan because we'd been there before and knew what to expect. So our final destination will be Apid Island. Everyone appeared tired in the photo but believe me they were still up for more swimming and sightseeing.

**Apid **is the second largest island among the four. Because it is an inhabited island, similar to Himokilan, it is not as calm as Mahaba and Digyo.

There were many pump boats in front, making it difficult for tourists to find swimming spots. There is also a village where fresh fish may be purchased. Now I understand why other tourists skip this island because it serves as a home for locals rather than a tourist attraction. It's quite different from the other two islands we've visited so far.

Some stayed on the pump boat and rested there, while others went to explore the island and went swimming. Still a white sand island with a glass like water and a sandy bottom part of the sea. We didn't stayed long because everyone was exhausted from all the activities. After that, we returned home and everyone was knocked down. It had been a long but enjoyable trip. A summer to remember.

That's all for this blog. Thank you for sparing your time visiting my blog. Adios!
