In Monocoque, Merida State there is a place which houses a very moving monument in tribute to Nevado Simon Bolivar's dog which was of Mucuchi breed, the Liberator felt a deep love for his unconditional companion.
The legend written on its walls tells that when Bolivar arrived in Caracas in 1813, more than one flower was thrown to the balconies, they were captivated with the beautiful dog Nevado and he was worthy of them, the officers of the general staff at that time baptized Tinjaca as a companion in a festive recognition as "Edecan del perro". In Trujillo the patriots are defeated and they are trapped.
Boves receives the captives and said to Tinjaca you have changed of master but not of office and orders to chain the ferocious animal, that in the siege of Valencia can escape. Years later occurs the encounter with Bolivar in the town of Timotes, the fame of Nevado had no limits. When the dog died, sadness seized both present and absent.
It is said that Bolivar shed tears of sincere love the day of Nevado's death on June 24, 1821 in the Battle of Carabobo, he died defending his master while they were in armed combat, it is a story that shows us the genuine and incomparable love of our doggy friends.
In the monument that has several meters high can be seen a huge concrete base with a plaque that talks about what happened that June 24, on it are the bronze sculptures of Bolivar, Nevado and other companions, also around the same written in relief is the story behind this monument that I mentioned before, note that these are accompanied with drawings of Nevado as part of the army of Bolivar in the Battles and another sadder scene where the day of his death stands out.
From this place you can also see an impressive and beautiful view of the mountains and trees, a great view of the Merideños landscapes that anyone can fall in love with. Tourists come here very often to visit the Nevado Monument that is part of the Cultural Heritage of our country Venezuela, proving that a dog can be more loyal than any person.
In my first time at this monument I felt a deep sadness for all that happened but happy that they could honor Bolivar's faithful friend.

Cuenta la leyenda escrita en sus muros que cuando Bolívar llegó a Caracas en 1813, más de una flor le arrojaban a los balcones, quedaron cautivados con el perro hermoso Nevado y el era digno de ellas, los oficiales del estado mayor en ese entonces bautizaron a Tinjaca como acompañante en un reconocimiento festivo como "Edecan del perro". En Trujillo son derrotados los patriotas y ellos atrapados.

Se dice que Bolívar derramó lágrimas de amor sincero el día del fallecimiento de Nevado el 24 de Junio de 1821 en la Batalla de Carabobo, el murió defendiendo a su amo mientras se encontraban en el combate armado, es una historia que nos demuestra del amor genuino e incomparable de nuestros amigos perrunos.
En el monumento que cuenta con varios metros de altura puede verse una enorme base de concreto con una placa que habla sobre lo ocurrido aquel 24 de Junio, sobre ella se encuentran las esculturas en bronce de Bolívar, Nevado y otros acompañantes, además alrededor del mismo escrito en relieve se encuentra la historia detrás de éste monumento que antes le mencionaba, cabe destacar que estos están acompañados con dibujos de Nevado formando parte del ejercito de Bolívar en las Batallas y otra escena más triste dónde sobresalta el día de su muerte.
Desde este lugar también puede observarse una impresionante y linda vista de las montañas y los árboles, una gran vista de los paisajes Merideños que enamoran a cualquiera, los turistas vienen acá muy seguido a visitar el Monumento a Nevado que es parte del Patrimonio Cultural de nuestro país Venezuela, demostrando que un perro puede ser más leal que cualquier persona.
En mi primera vez en este monumento sentí una profunda tristeza por todo lo sucedido pero feliz de que pudiesen rendirle honor al amigo fiel de Bolívar.
