TRAVELING PHOTOGRAPHY
I have been thinking of visiting the brick kiln for a long time. Because there are no brick kilns in our neighborhood. I went to visit grandma's house. There is a brick kiln. I present the incident below.
In the afternoon as the sun casts its golden glow across the horizon a group of curious individuals embarks on a short excursion to the brick kilns. Nestled on the outskirts of a bustling town these kilns stand as silent witnesses to the age-old art of brick-making. As the excursionists approach the kilns a faint aroma of freshly fired clay wafts through the air captivating their senses and hinting at the hidden treasures that lie within. The kilns, towering structures made of brick and clay themselves evoke a sense of mystery and intrigue. Their sheer size and ancient appearance stand as a testament to the enduring nature of this craft.
At first glance, the brick kilns appear to be nothing more than massive ovens but a closer inspection reveals the meticulous process involved in creating the humble brick. The group is greeted by a master craftsman, a seasoned artisan who has dedicated his life to the art of brick-making. With a warm smile, he welcomes them and invites them to witness the magic of his craft. The excursionists are led through a labyrinth of corridors within the kilns each one housing a different stage of the brick-making process. The first stop is the clay pit where the raw material is sourced. The earthy scent grows stronger as they descend into the depths of the pit where workers toil to extract the perfect clay mixture. The group learns about the careful balance of clay sand and water required to create bricks that are sturdy yet malleable.
Leaving the clay pit behind, the visitors arrive at the molding area. Here skilled artisans shape the clay into individual bricks using traditional wooden molds. The excursionists marvel at the dexterity of the craftsmen as they swiftly and effortlessly mold each brick their hands dancing across the wet clay. The air is filled with a symphony of rhythmic taps as the molds are gently knocked to release the newly formed bricks. The journey continues to the drying yard, a vast open space dotted with rows upon rows of freshly molded bricks. The excursionists learn that this crucial step allows the bricks to dry naturally slowly hardening and gaining strength. They walk amongst the bricks feeling the rough texture beneath their fingertips and observing the fascinating process of transformation.
As the sun begins its descent towards the horizon the group reaches the heart of the kiln the firing chamber. Here the bricks are placed in carefully constructed compartments, forming towering walls within the kiln. The master craftsman explains the intricacies of firing as the kiln is heated to high temperatures over several days. This process ensures that the bricks gain their characteristic reddish hue and become durable enough to withstand the test of time. The final leg of the excursion leads the visitors to the cooling area, where the bricks rest after their fiery ordeal. A gentle breeze sweeps through the space cooling the still-warm bricks and infusing the air with a sense of accomplishment. The excursionists witness the transformation of the once malleable clay into solid reliable building blocks ready to be used in the creation of structures that will endure for generations. As the excursion draws to a close the group gathers near the kilns their hearts filled with newfound appreciation for the artistry and dedication that goes into brick-making. They bid farewell to the master craftsman and the kilns carrying with them a deeper understanding of this ancient craft and the importance of preserving traditions in the face of modernity.
With the afternoon sun now dipping below the horizon the excursionists return to the town, their minds abuzz with the sights, sounds and scents of the brick kilns. Inspired by the resilience of this timeless craft they reflect on the lasting impact of human ingenuity and the beauty that can be found in the simplest of things.
With my minimal knowledge I presented you some beautiful writings. Later I will be present again with a new travel story. Stay healthy everyone. Assalamualaikum
You really did present us with some beautiful writing. For a moment there, I thought I was reading a novel where the character visited a kiln😅.
I have also learned something new from reading this. I never knew the process that went behind making sturdy bricks like that. And at first I thought that the kiln was the large area of field where the bricks were stored, the one in your pictures. I would have sure loved to see a picture of clay baking in the kiln themselves. But I also appreciate your pictures.
I enjoyed reading this. Do share more of your travels and visitations with us. Thank you🌹
Thank you so much dear friends.
