In this opportunity I present you a publication in which I will tell you about a trip I did to the Gran Sabana, the most pleasant and unforgettable experience of all the trips I have done until now.

En esta oportunidad les presento una publicación en la que les contaré sobre un viaje que hice a la Gran Sabana, la experiencia más grata e inolvidable de todos los viajes que he realizado hasta ahora.
The encounter with nature, with the purest, healthiest air, breathing the green of the jungle, knowing myself in this very ancient geological formation of imposing tepuyes, cradle of the first animal, vegetable and mineral inhabitants of the planet Earth, wetting myself in the crystalline waters of its rivers and waterfalls, had in me a revitalizing, energetic effect, which breathed in me and made me want to stay admiring the Venezuelan land forever.
El encuentro con la naturaleza, con el aire más puro, saludable, respirar el verde de la selva, saberme en esta antiquísima formación geológica de imponentes tepuyes, cuna de los primeros habitantes animales, vegetales y minerales del planeta Tierra, mojarme en las cristalinas aguas de sus ríos y cascadas, surtieron en mí un efecto revitalizador, enérgico, que me insuflaron aliento y ganas de quedarme admirando por siempre la tierra venezolana.
The Gran Sabana is a territory of 10,820 km², located in the southeast of Venezuela, in the state of Bolivar. It is part of the Canaima National Park, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1994.
La Gran Sabana es un territorio de 10.820 km² de extensión, situado al sureste de Venezuela, en el estado Bolívar. Forma parte del Parque Nacional Canaima, declarado Patrimonio de la Humanidad por la Unesco en el año 1994.
The Gran Sabana has such particular characteristics that make it one of the most visited regions by national and foreign tourists within the magnificent landscape of Venezuela. The impressive beauty of this great steppe has its seat in the Guiana Shield, the oldest geological formation on Earth. It is a region full of rivers, waterfalls, deep valleys that are lost in the green distance.
La Gran Sabana posee características tan particulares que la convierten en una de las regiones más visitadas por turistas nacionales y extranjeros dentro del magnífico paisajismo de Venezuela. La impresionante belleza de esta gran estepa tiene su asiento en el Escudo Guayanés, la formación geológica más antigua de la Tierra. Es una comarca llena de ríos, cascadas, valles profundos que se pierden en la verde distancia.
It is accessible by air and land. In my case, I contacted a company in charge of organizing one-week tourist trips using a bus as a means of transportation. The package included lodging, breakfast and dinner.
Due to the variety of the panorama and the great amount of photographs I took, I will focus on showing you in this publication the images of Quebrada de Jaspe and the Soroape Spa, as well as some details intrinsic to the habitat of the area. In a next occasion I will be able to show you other places of this geography as important and impressive as these.
Se accede a ella por vía aérea y terrestre. En mi caso, contacté a una empresa encargada de organizar viajes turísticos de una semana utilizando como medio de transporte un autobús. El paquete de ofertas incluía hospedaje, desayunos y cenas.
Debido a la variedad del panorama y de la gran cantidad de fotografías que realicé, me centraré en mostrarles en esta publicación las imágenes de Quebrada de Jaspe y del Balneario Soroape, además de algunos detalles intrínsecos al hábitat de la zona. En una próxima ocasión les podré mostrar otros lugares de esta geografía tan importantes e impactantes como estos.
Quebrada de Jaspe or Kako Parú
In this photograph we can appreciate the Quebrada de Jaspe, called in the native language Kako Parú, one of the most visited places in the Gran Sabana due to its striking reddish color. With a length of about three hundred meters and a current of only a few centimeters deep, the ravine is settled on a solid and smooth plate of jasper stone, a semi-precious mineral composed of quartz and silica, with a very strong red color.
It is opportune to point out that the guides permanently remind the tourists that they must preserve the jade plate with zeal.
En esta fotografía podemos apreciar la Quebrada de Jaspe, llamada en lengua autóctona Kako Parú, uno de los lugares más visitados de la Gran Sabana por su llamativo color rojizo. Con una longitud cercana a los trescientos metros y una corriente de apenas algunos centímetros de profundidad, la quebrada está asentada en una sólida y lisa placa de piedra de jaspe, mineral semi-precioso compuesto de cuarzo y sílice, con un color rojo muy fuerte.
Es oportuno señalar que los guías permanentemente les recuerdan a los turistas que deben preservar con celo la placa de jade.
In this sanctuary of unparalleled beauty we could enjoy the waterfall that toned our whole body with its water massages, as you will see later.
En este santuario de inigualable belleza pudimos disfrutar de la cascada que nos tonificó todo el cuerpo con sus masajes de agua, como verán más adelante.
In Quebrada de Jaspe we were delighted to take pictures of the place populated by a large number of giant trees, under the open sky, clear of clouds that allowed us to recreate widely in the place.
En Quebrada de Jaspe nos deleitamos haciendo fotos del lugar poblado por una gran cantidad de árboles gigantescos, bajo el cielo abierto, despejado de nubes que nos permitió recrearnos ampliamente en el lugar.
Companions of this magical day were the multicolored butterflies that abound in impressive quantities and enraptured us by frolicking around us, in addition to the pleasure we got from bathing in this waterfall, where we all hugged, laughed and were happy to share this magnificent journey.
Compañeras de este mágico día fueron las multicoloridas mariposas que abundan en cantidades impresionantes y nos embelesaron retozando a nuestro alrededor, además del placer que nos proporcionó bañarnos en esta cascada, donde todos nos abrazamos, reímos y nos alegramos de compartir este magnífico viaje.
Here we must walk very carefully because of the slippery surface, which is why visitors are required to walk on the stone in socks. And as you can see, hardly anyone can resist lying down on this beautiful bed and immortalizing the moment through a photograph.
Aquí debemos andar con mucho cuidado por lo resbaladizo de la superficie, razón por la cual se les exige a los visitantes que deben caminar sobre la piedra en calcetines. Y como pueden observar, difícilmente alguien se resiste a acostarse sobre este precioso lecho e inmortalizar el momento por medio de una fotografía.
We are leaving Quebrada de Jaspe for the next destination selected for this publication, but first I would like to tell you that on the way, as we move from one place to another, we can observe several types of churuatas.
Nos vamos de Quebrada de Jaspe para el siguiente destino seleccionado para esta publicación, pero antes les comento que en el camino, en la medida en que nos desplazamos de un lugar a otro, podemos observar varios tipos de churuatas.
Churuata is the name with which the huts of the indigenous people are known in the zone, houses built with diverse materials gathered inside their habitat, like palms, woods, canes, mud, sticks, stones, elements that maintain their ancestral tradition. Of fragile appearance they are very safe, impermeable and resistant to the passage of time. For a long time, the Churuatas have become an icon of the culture in general and particularly of the Venezuelan architectural culture.
Churuata es el nombre con que se conocen en la zona las chozas de los indígenas, viviendas construidas con diversos materiales recogidos dentro de su hábitat, como palmas, maderas, cañas, barro, palos, piedras, elementos que mantienen su tradición ancestral. Aunque de apariencia frágil son muy seguras, impermeables y resistentes al paso del tiempo. Desde hace mucho tiempo, las churuatas se han convertido en ícono de la cultura en general y particularmente de la cultura arquitectónica venezolana.
Balneario Soroape
Located at kilometer 244, it is another mandatory stop on the Gran Sabana tour.
Ubicado en el kilómetro 244, es otro de los lugares de parada obligatoria en el recorrido turístico por la Gran Sabana.
Of easy access, well organized and signaled, it is a beautiful resort where it is usual to camp, in addition it counts on sales of food and drinks; also the visitors have spaces to make their own food.
De fácil acceso, bien organizado y señalizado, es un hermoso balneario donde se suele acampar, además cuenta con ventas de comidas y bebidas; también los visitantes disponen de espacios para hacer su propia comida.
In this location I was very impressed by the formation of the rocks integrated to the earth, so that they give rise to large and small pools that are the glory for all people who enjoy direct contact with Mother Nature.
En esta locación me impresionó mucho la formación de las rocas integradas a la tierra, de manera que dan lugar a grandes y pequeñas piscinas que son la gloria para todas las personas que disfrutan el contacto directo con la madre naturaleza.
I took this photograph in the late afternoon, when the waterfall was standing alone and the reflection of the sun combined with the movement of the waters created in me a state of total ecstasy.
Esta fotografía la tomé al final de la tarde, cuando la cascada se estaba quedando sola y el reflejo del sol combinado con el movimiento de las aguas creó en mí un estado de éxtasis total.
I hope you enjoyed the images and information I provided about this trip. I want you to know that in the same location you can contact groups dedicated to organizing tourist or research trips to the most jungle and remote part of Canaima National Park, experiences very much sought after by the most adventurous spirits in the world. I would like to sign up for one of those trips. Sometimes to reach these places of difficult access can only be done by canoes or curiaras like these, which are since time immemorial the essential means of transport of the natives of this land.

A mí me gustaría anotarme en uno de esos viajes. Algunas veces para llegar a esos lugares de difícil acceso solo se puede mediante canoas o curiaras como estas, que son desde tiempos inmemoriales el medio de transporte esencial de los naturales de esta tierra.
