Hello everyone how are you all? you know that trip we took to Laoag last Saturday? it was so much fun! We left early from Cagayan de Oro the drive was super long but totally worth it.

First stop when we got there was the beach in Pagudpud which is just a short ride from Laoag. The wind and water were so cool! It was so relaxing. The sand was white and clean and there were these crazy rock formations that looked like they were made on purpose. We even played beach volleyball with some other tourists there even though we lost we just laughed the whole time.

After the beach we went to Laoag Church. It is so big and old! That Sinking Bell Tower really blew me away it actually looks like it’s slowly sinking into the ground. I even asked the guard if the story was true and he said yeah it goes down a little bit every year. We took so many photos there who knows maybe one day it will be completely underground!

Next up was the Ilocos Norte Provincial Capitol. The garden there is gorgeous! There were flowers in all colors and a huge open space where lots of families were having picnics. We bought some rice cakes from a nearby stall puto and kutsinta with caramel sauce. So delicious!

In the afternoon we visited a house where they make handicrafts. We saw mats woven from abaca, and necklaces made from seeds. I bought one for my mom. The person making them even showed us how they do it they are so skilled, they weave so fast!

At night we ate at a small eatery that’s famous for their bagnet and empanada. The bagnet was amazing so tender inside and crispy outside! The empanada had papaya, mung beans, and longganisa inside. We even tried basi that Ilocano drink made from rice. It’s a bit strong but tastes good.

After eating, we walked around the city center. The streets were lit up so nicely no wonder they call it the City of Light. We ran into some locals who told us stories about the place, and they even recommended a good spot to watch the sunrise the next day.

We woke up early the next morning to catch the sunrise by the sea. It was so beautiful the sky turned orange and pink and the water glowed. We just sat there for a while just watching. Before we left we bought some longganisa to take home everyone back here loved it.
