The weather on the Isle of Skye wasn't perfect, but we decided to organize at least this one trek anyway. Rain will fall at most and we'll get a little wet, but the desire to see something more from a perspective other than the car window. We chose the very picturesque Fairy Pools waterfalls as our trekking destination. Basically, the trekking version is not very long, because it is only about 2 kilometers in one direction and 2 kilometers in the other direction, and it is certainly not a physically demanding trekking, because the whole thing is done along a wide and not too steep path. We decided on something more. At the end of the trail, where the last waterfall is located, and very few tourists reach it, there is a narrow path turning left and leading to the foot of the Bidean Druim nan Ramh peak. After about two kilometers, this path running at the foot of the peaks joins another path that will lead us calmly to the car park. Everything seems simple, but there is a detail, namely no one, almost no one walks on those trails. 99% of people visiting Fairy Pools just walk along a whole series of waterfalls, reach the last one and turn back to the parking lot. The route that we additionally did, practically no one else overcomes, as a result of which the trail was very overgrown and many times we did not know which way we should go exactly. What's worse, everyone knows what Scottish weather is like, so the whole trail was soaked with water like a sponge when swimming. Our shoes, although they were trekking shoes, were completely soaked. Mosses, grasses and low knee-length bushes covered our trail for about 2 kilometers, so walking there was a real torment, but our hardships were rewarded by sheep, which in such a remote area were much more willing to pose for photos.

Pogoda na wyspie Skye nie była idealna, ale tak czy inaczej zdecydowaliśmy się zorganizować sobie przynajmniej ten jeden trekking. Najwyżej spadnie deszcz i trochę zmokniemy, ale chęć zobaczenia czegoś więcej z perspektywy innej niż okno samochodowe. Za cel trekkingu wybraliśmy sobie bardzo malownicze wodospady Fairy Pools. Podstawowo wersja trekkingu nie jest bardzo długa, bo liczy sobie zaledwie jakieś 2 kilometry w jedna i 2 kilometry w druga stronę i na pewno nie jest to żaden wymagający fizyczne trekking, ponieważ całość jego odbywa się po szerokiej i niezbyt stromej ścieżce. My zdecydowaliśmy się na cos więcej. Na końcu szlaku, gdzie znajduje się ostatni już wodospad, a dociera naprawdę niewielu turystów, znajduje się wąska ścieżka odbijająca na lewo i prowadząca u podnóża szczytu Bidean Druim nan Ramh. Po mniej więcej dwóch kilometrach owa ścieżka biegnąca u podnóża szczytów łączy się z kolejną ścieżką która doprowadzi nas już spokojnie do parkingu samochodowego. Wszystko wygląda niby prosto, ale jest pewien szczegół, a mianowicie nikt, prawie nikt nie chodzi po tamtych szlakach. 99% ludzi odwiedzających Fairy Pools przechodzi tylko wzdłuż całego szeregu wodospadów, dociera do ostatniego i zawraca z powrotem na parking. Trasę która my dodatkowo zrobiliśmy praktycznie nikt inny nie pokonuje, w efekcie czego szlak był bardzo zarośnięty i niejednokrotnie nie wiedzieliśmy którędy tak dokładnie powinniśmy iść. Co gorsze, szkocka pogoda jaka jest każdy wie, więc cały szlak był przesiąknięty wodą jak gąbka podczas kąpieli. Nasze buty choć były to buty trekkingowe przemokły doszczętnie. Mchy, trawy i niskie krzaki sięgające do kolan porastały nasz szlak na długości około 2 kilometrów, więc przemarsz tamtędy to była prawdziwa udręka, ale nasze trudy wynagrodziły nam owieczki, które w takim odludziu dużo chętniej pozowały do zdjęć.

Was it worth the effort to visit these Fairy Pools waterfalls? The answer is yes! It is not without reason that so many tourists come here every year, the fairy pools are simply beautiful, and apparently in the summer season there are daredevils who even decide to swim in these pools. Fairy Pools is a series of waterfalls and water basins on the Brittle River stretching for several hundred meters. Everything is accompanied by a very nice view of the mountain peak with a very long name Bidean Druim nan Ramh.

Czy warto było się aż tak męczyć, aby odwiedzić te wodospady Fairy Pools? Odpowiedź brzmi tak! Nie bez powodu tylu turystów przyjeżdża tutaj każdego roku, baseny wróżek są po prostu przepiękne, a ponoć w sezonie letnim znajdują się śmiałkowie którzy nawet decydują się na kąpiel w tych basenach. Fairy Pools jest to szereg wodospadów i niecek wodnych na rzece Brittle rozciągających się na długości kilkuset metrów. Wszystkiemu towarzyszy bardzo ładny widok na szczyt górski o bardzo długiej nazwie Bidean Druim nan Ramh.

After such a hard and tiring trek, we planned to go to Carbost, where we could take a warm shower for one pound near the local port. The automatic port shower worked fine, but we needed £1 coins to use it, which wasn't that easy. First, Agatka tried to go to a nearby building, which turned out to be the distillery of the world-famous Talisker whiskey. Unfortunately, they didn't have small coins, because every customer usually pays with them thick cash and no one uses coins there. We were able to change a ten-pound note only 2 kilometers away in a roadside restaurant, where enough one-pound coins were found in a tip jar. The beautiful aromatic smell coming from the distillery spread throughout the area and made us reluctantly leave this town, although a warm shower gave us some strength for the rest of the day.

Po takim ciężkim i męczącym trekkingu zaplanowaliśmy pojechać do miejscowości Carbost, gdzie w pobliżu tamtejszego portu mogliśmy za koszt jednego funta wziąć sobie ciepły prysznic. Automatyczny portowy prysznic działał bez zarzutów, ale aby z niego skorzystać potrzebowaliśmy monet jednofuntowych, co nie było takie łatwe. Najpierw Agatka spróbowała pójść do pobliskiego budynku, który okazał się destylarnią słynnej na cały świat whiskey Talisker. Niestety nie mieli oni drobnych monet, gdyż każdy klient płaci u nich zazwyczaj grubą gotówka i nikt tam nie używa monet. Banknot dziesięciofuntowy udało nam się rozmienić dopiero 2 kilometry dalej w przydrożnej restauracji, gdzie w słoiczku na napiwki odnaleziono wystarczająco dużo monet jednofuntowych. Piękny aromatyczny zapach wydostający się z destylarni, roznosił się po całej okolicy i sprawiał, że niechętnie odjechaliśmy z tego miasteczka, choć ciepły prysznic dodał nam trochę sił na resztę dnia.
