The second place we visited during our stay in the Alps was the Austrian town of Hallstatt. It is an iconic place and I am sure that everyone who has ever seen a photo of tourism in Hallstatt dates back to the 19th century, but in fact the great tourist boom began after 1997, when the town was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The problem of excessive tourism in Hallstatt intensifies until the first decade of the 21st century, when a great influx of tourists from Asia started. The city fights with the problem of tourist overcrowding by introducing bus admission limits. In addition, to reach the city by car, you need to enter the tunnel under the mountain that presses the city against the lake. In the middle of the tunnel there is a small car park for about 50 cars and with a parking time limit of 2 hours if I remember correctly. The car parks are built in the form of viewing terraces with a beautiful view of the town. So the capacity of parking lots is another bottleneck limiting the number of tourists in the city. Anyway, a town with less than a thousand people, is visited by up to 30,000 tourists every day in high season. Fortunately, we got there completely out of season, so we managed to avoid the wild crowds. Another way to avoid the crowds in Hallstatt is to visit its Chinese counterpart, which is planned and built in 2011 in Huizhou, Guangdong Province. Interestingly, no one asked the Austrians how they view plans to copy their city. It was just copied and period.

Drugim miejscem odwiedzonym podczas naszego pobytu w Alpach była austriacka miejscowość Hallstatt. Jest to ikoniczna miejscowość i jestem przekonany, że każdy, kiedyś widział zdjęcie turystyka w Hallstatt sięga jeszcze XIX wieku, ale tak naprawdę wielki turystyczny boom rozpoczął się po roku 1997 kiedy to miasteczko zostało wpisane na listę światowego dziedzictwa UNESCO. Problem nadmiernej turystyki w Hallstatt nasila się do pierwszej dekady XXI wieku kiedy to ruszył wielki napływ turystów z Azji. Miasto walczy z problemem turystycznego przeludnienia poprzez wprowadzanie limitów przyjmowania autobusów. Ponadto aby dotrzeć do miasta samochodem trzeba wjechać do tunelu pod górą która dociska miasto do jeziora. W połowie tunelu znajduje się niewielki parking na około 50 samochodów i z limitem czasu parkowania wynoszącym jeśli dobrze pamiętam 2 godziny. Parkingi zbudowane są w formie tarasów widokowych, z których rozpościera się piękny widok na miasteczko. Więc pojemność parkingów to jest kolejne wąskie gardło ograniczające liczbę turystów w mieście. Tak czy inaczej miasteczko w którym żyje niecały tysiąc osób, każdego dnia w szczycie sezonu odwiedza do 30 000 turystów. Całe szczęście my trafiliśmy tam kompletnie poza sezonem, więc udało nam się ominąć dzikie tłumy. Innym wyjściem na uniknięcie tłumów w Hallstatt jest odwiedzenie jego chińskiego odpowiednika, czyli zaplanowanego i zbudowanego w 2011 roku w Huizhou w prowincji Guangdong. Co ciekawe, nikt nie zapytał się Austriaków jak zapatrują się na plany skopiowania ich miasta. Zostało po prostu skopiowane i kropka.

In the most instagrammable city in the world (as it is called Hallstatt), densely built between a steep mountain and a lake, there is also a mine whose entrance is located some 150 meters above the city. To get there, you have to climb a winding path along which there are numerous snow-cushion structures to protect the city from avalanches. Along the path leading to the top, there were numerous information boards presenting the history of the city. On one of these plaques there were photographs showing what damage in Hallstatt was caused by one of the avalanches that hit the city in the previous century. The existing protective structures probably protect the city well against avalanches, all mentions of deadly avalanches were related to ancient times.
At the top there was an entrance to the mine and a viewing platform with a beautiful view of the lake.

W najbardziej instagramowym mieście na świecie (jak nazywane jest Hallstatt) ciasno zbudowanym między stromą góra a jeziorem znajduje się również kopalnia do której wejście zlokalizowane jest jakieś 150 metrów ponad miastem. Aby się tam dostać trzeba wspiąć się krętą dróżką wzdłuż której ciągną się liczne śniegołapowe konstrukcję mające na celu chronienie miasta przed lawinami. Wzdłuż ścieżki wiodącej na szczyt znajdowały się liczne tablice informacyjne przedstawiające historię miasta. Na jednej z tych tablic znajdowały się fotografie pokazujące jakie zniszczenia w Hallstatt spowodowała jedna z lawin która w poprzednim stuleciu zeszła na miasto. Istniejące konstrukcje ochronne chyba dobrze zabezpieczają miasto przed lawinami, o wszystkie wzmianki o śmiercionośnych lawinach dotyczyła zamierzchłych czasów.
Na szczycie znajdowało się wejście do kopalni oraz, platforma widokowa z pięknym widokiem na jezioro.

After leaving Hallstatt, I also learned that from the mine next to which we stood, the oldest pipeline in the world was led, which is over 400 years old and was made of thirteen thousand hollow tree trunks. Another interesting thing that we missed while exploring the city is the dark chapel located in one of the city's two churches. In this chapel there is a collection of beautifully decorated skulls of people who lived in the city in the past. Each of them is scrupulously signed with the name of the owner, the profession he performed and the date of death. A bit of a dark curiosity, so even if we had known about this place, we would not have decided to visit this chapel anyway.

Po wyjeździe z Hallstatt dowiedziałem się również, że z kopalni obok której staliśmy poprowadzony jest najstarszy rurociąg na świecie który liczy sobie już ponad 400 lat i został wykonany z trzynastu tysięcy wydrążonych pni drzew. Kolejną ciekawą rzeczą którą pominęliśmy przy zwiedzaniu miasta jest mroczna kaplica znajdująca się w jednym z dwóch miejskich kościołów. W owej kaplicy znajduje się kolekcja pięknie ozdobionych czasek ludzi którzy w przeszłości zamieszkiwali miasto. Każda z nich jest skrupulatnie podpisana imieniem i nazwiskiem właściciela, zawodem jaki wykonywał oraz datą śmierci. Trochę mroczna ciekawostka, więc prawdopodobnie nawet gdybyśmy wiedzieli o tym miejscu to i tak nie zdecydowalibyśmy się na odwiedzimy tej kaplicy.

After descending from the viewpoint in Hallstatt, we decided to make a detour around the eastern part of the Salzburg Alps, and more precisely around the Dachstein massif. Driving through the picturesque town of Gosau, I saw very nice-looking mountains on the left and it dawned on me to go there a little closer, because maybe I can find a nice view point. It was as I predicted. At the end of the road there was the Seeklausalm settlement with a huge, empty parking lot at this time of the year, and behind it only a hotel with a restaurant, two houses, a water dam and the Gosausee reservoir with a beautiful view of the almost three-thousand-strong snow-capped peaks.

Po zejściu z punktu widokowego w Hallstatt postanowiliśmy zrobić objazd dookoła wschodniej części Alp Salzburskich a dokładnie wokół masywu Dachstein. Przejeżdżając przez malowniczą miejscowość Gosau zobaczyłem po lewej stronie bardzo ładnie wyglądające góry i zaświtała mi myśl, aby podjechać tam troszeczkę bliżej, bo może uda się znaleźć jakiś fajny punkt widokowy. Było tak jak przewidziałem. Na końcu drogi znajdowała się osada Seeklausalm a w niej ogromny pusty o tej porze roku parking, a za nim już tylko hotel z restauracją, dwa domy, zapora wodna i zalew Gosausee z pięknym widokiem na ośnieżone niemal trzytysięczne szczyty.

We still had a plan to go to the clearing where the lower station of the cable car leading to the top of Dachstein was built, but when we got there, it was already very late, so the time for the best views was irretrievable, and worse for entering the road leading to the lower station of the cable car was charged There were fees of about PLN 100 per car, so almost at dusk we said goodbye to the Alps and headed towards the lowlands, and more precisely towards Vienna and further towards the house.

Mieliśmy jeszcze plan aby podjechać pod polankę na której zbudowano dolną stację kolejki górskiej prowadzącej na szczyt Dachstein, ale gdy dojechaliśmy na miejsce było już bardzo późno więc czas na najlepsze widoki uciekła nam bezpowrotnie, a co gorsze za wjazd na drogę prowadzącą do dolnej stacji kolejki pobierane były opłaty w wysokości około 100 zł za samochód, więc już niemal o zmierzchu pożegnaliśmy Alpy i ruszyliśmy w kierunku nizin, a dokładnie w kierunku Wiednia i dalej w kierunku domu.
